This movie is not very good. Like others have said, its everywhere, the story doesn't hold up and its not very scary. Pretend this movie is a harmful drug and "just say no".
Abysmal dreck which completely misses every opportunity to generate shocks or have fun with the notion of a killer baby. The acting is dreadful, with most of the actors appearing to speak their lines phonetically and with little comprehension of their meaning. Even Phillips fails to carry her weight here - a shame for those of us who dig her in most things. Among the film's other shortcomings are a ludicrous location (Why do the Davies live in a tourist trap recreation of the Alamo, apparently located somewhere in eastern Europe?), an utter absence of logic (How oblivious would a young father have to be to not notice his newborn son getting out of his crib to kill?), the inexplicable absence of the baby throughout (In the original, not showing the little bugger made sense, because they were building toward a reveal. In this one, Daniel is supposed to look normal, cherubic, even "beautiful". We only know this, though, because the actors keep saying so; he's only shown in "human form" once, early on.), and the unnecessary presence of a superfluous character in a wheelchair (Why would you trap a wheelchair-bound character in a house with a flesh-eating monster and NEVER have that character killed or even directly threatened?). I really wanted this remake to work, but the filmmakers clearly didn't know how to handle the material - odd, since Larry Cohen is listed as co-writer. Even the cautionary aspect (involving so-called "abortion pills") feels tacked on, and thus falls flat. A terrible disappointment.
It was enjoyable for a DTV horror remake. Bijou Phillips gave the best performance, easily. Some of the other acting wasn't so good. Decent screenplay, some decent violence and good production values. I enjoyed it for what it was.
There wasn't anything special about the film. Not sure if it was filmed in the U.S. but didn't seem so. Haven't seen the original so I can't compare but all I can say is, though they show some blood and hint that the baby is a monster, we barely get to see it, maybe for like 0.3 seconds. Not worth your time at all. Would like to rate it ZERO skulls but I can't, so you get the idea of how bad it is.
While the acting isn't terrible this movie just is not that great, and fails to entertain. Most of the kills were off screen and the gore was just "ok" but there wasn't enough. The fillm is watchable, just a bit dull.
Sooooo I just watched this remake and....Hummmmmm pretty odd to say the least.I have waited for this movie for what 2 years now? I a bit disappointed. Kinda skips around to much, no real story to it. The gore scenes were nice and the baby is kinda wicked. The acting wasnt very good. They didnt seem believable. I guess all and all it was alright. Not great, just ok. Watch it for the gore, dont expect a good story or concusion.
