Very, very good compared to what I figured it would be. It's full of suspense with great effects. I recommend this to anyone. You don't even have to know the previous storyline, really.
I have to say it was better than expected but was not better in terms of horror. This was not a horror movie actually. This was an action flick that contained goofy 3-D gore effects and a bit of comedy.
The concept was a thrill and was not bad but is not horror, short, laughable effects and script, and left us with a not very good ending. First of all if you have seen the first 3, the only reason to see this one is for the 3-D version which you will spend $8 extra for one view. Even though this is technically an on-track remake, there is a problem with the idea of the film.
Here is the problem. First I will tell you the concept:
Somebody saw an accurate vision of them dieing somehow at an event currently happening. Later he discovers the beginning of his vision was becoming real and he was convinced that unless he leaves he will die the way he died in his vision. He left the event but later finds out that he was meant to die so he will die somehow unless he saves another who he has saved from the event.
So that is the concept. But I see something wrong. Isn't the person he saves supposed to die anyhow so they will end up dieing again at another event? I do not know and I do not care because I am convinced to believe the only person I care about in the movie is the main character them self.
The blood effects were not realistic but the effects were fun and yet also funny. Its almost like I am watching Scary Movie 5. The title, "The Final Destination" actually makes out to be a remake as well, because of the lack of 4 at the end. Final Destination officially had 3 inferior remakes which is amazing. The movie is not bad, just failed to be a true sequel like the others and ends up in remake shoes.
There is plenty of pure, dumb fun to be had with this movie and the 3D aspect adds to it. Favorite line: "Come on,she put tampons in her kids ears, she was bound to die sooner or later"

I loved the first three films, but this was a disgrace to the franchise. It felt more like a spoof rather than an actual sequel. It wasn't even a horror movie too -- it was a mainstream 3D gimmick with explosions and objects crushing people. Terrible acting, lame and uncreative death sequences and idiotic characters with no character development whatsoever. It felt incredibly rushed, but for a film as bad as this, that was one of the only GOOD things about this.
The 3D was fun,but the movie is the lamest in the series, with a stupid ending.MBV 3D far better, than this one.

This movie would has sucked if it wasn't for the 3-D effect. The storyline was horrible and the so called "vision" that the main characters sees are so vague that the people watching the movie don't even know who will die next. Thankfully I saw it in 3-D or I would have wanted my money back.
What happened to this series? It's as if they don't even care anymore. A VERY short film with characters with absolutely no depth, God-awful acting, totally implausable incidents and was it me, or was there less gore? I really wouldn't waste my money going to see this bag of shite.

"The Final Destination" is the fourth movie in the saga and rumored to also be the last. Lets get real people.. we didn't go see this movie for an engaging story.. WE SAW IT FOR THE DEATH AND BLOOD. So people saying there wasn't enough story just stop because if there was story you would have been complaining that its the same thing over and over again.. what else can they do with death!? anyway, the 3D was perfectly used and it wasn't overdone as in "My Bloody Valentine 3D" it was beautifully laced together although there were a couple plot holes.
"The Final Destination" may not have had the most original deaths but it was really entertaining. People say they didn't get to know the characters well enough.. well two words.. WHO CARES they all end up dying anyway. "Final Destination 3" is personally my favorite but "The Final Destination" is definately my second favorite it was very entertaining and it even delivered a couple good laughs.
Some of the deaths were jokes, i.e. The Cowboy and the bathtub and George and the ambulance. They seemed kinda dull and were like okay we've seen that before. The acting never needs to be good because everyone dies so stop complaining. It was a good movie to be a FOURTH entry in the series.
I thought this movie was very well done and was very bloody and satisfying. One of the best of the series.
It was also released on my birthday ahha.
So i'm going to rate this movie with the score of 9.
For being one of the most entertaining Horror films in a long time. Let alone one of the most entertaining film since "Orphan" or even "The Strangers"
Good job New Line!
I guess I expected to much from this movie. Its definetly the worst film in the series, I guarantee that if this wouldn't have been in 3d it wouldn't have made as much money as it has and people would be slamming this movie. The kills were pretty lame for the most part imo.I've heard that this is gonna be the last one and if they keep making them like this I hope it is the last one.

No one has ever accused the "Final Destination" films of being high art. For a lot of us, the series has simply been a guilty pleasure. No real plot to speak of, but the deviant in us likes watching people be killed off in creative ways.
There is no doubt in my mind that the original is the best in the series. The scene where the airplane explodes from a voyeur's viewpoint has stuck with me ever since the release of the film. It also put a damper on my willingness to travel via airplane. The crash scene from the second film is epic. Some really grizzly kills are shown in full detail. The third film in the series strikes a chord with me, because I REALLY hate roller-costers.
There was nothing for me to really connect with in the new installment. The big tragedy that sets death off on another slasher-esque rampage is a crash at what appears to be a NASCAR race. I may live in Kentucky, but I take no pleasure from watching cars drive in a circle. I guess I have too many teeth in my head.
The 3D effects in this film, for me, are the ONLY reason to see it. As a film, it was pretty piss-poor. The acting, while passable, was pretty generic. The death scenes, while fun in 3D, where nowhere near as creative and fun as the last 3 films. The soundtrack was abysmal pop-rock. Basically everything about the film on a film making standpoint, was cookie-cutter standard. Some of the dialogue was so cheesy it hurt. "I've got my EYE on you" comes to mind(You'll see.)
Now, on to the 3D aspect of the film. Some of the 3D shots were absolutely amazing. I didn't feel bad paying the 25.00 price tag for my wife and I to see the film. One shot in particular actually made me flinch. I'm a seasoned 3D horror veteran, and This movie made me flinch.. I felt like a 12 year old girl hiding her face from the big bad monster on screen.
Basically, if you have 10 bucks to blow, and have a chance to see this at the theater, give it a go. The 3D effects alone are worth the price of admission. If you don't get a chance to see it at a theater, don't bother. Unless you have OCD and have to see every film in a series just for the principal, it's an easy film to miss.
The film it's self 1.5/5
The 3D aspect of the film get's a 4/5 easily.

VERY AWESOME!
the 3D was great! i loved the deaths and every thing! not as good as halloween II but still gets 9 out of 10!
Just what I was expecting when I walked into the theatre - a fun little romp with plenty of gore, TWO great disasters and some clever and interesting deaths. I was laughing all the way through, it was very funny and some of the deaths were hilariously over the top, which added to the fun of the whole thing. Probably the best of the lot (coming close to 1 +2 and we can pretend 3 didn't exist)!
This movie was exactly what I expected: mindless, fun, gory, cringe-inducing 3-D hilarity! Not meant to be anything but a fun way to kill a couple hours. We loved it!
Ok, I knew this was going to be fluff going into it, but come on!! They didn't give a s**t about the story or the characters and I didn't give a s**t about them either! The 3D was amazing, I was batting things in front of my face like an idiot :) There was sooooo much more that could have been done in this movie and without the 3D it just sucked. It was short as hell too! I ended up movie hopping after just to get my $'s worth!

OK, I had been bias toward this film since the beginning. I had my mind set that this film would be better that Halloween. I really enjoyed all of the films in the Final Destination series so this was another good edition. I had some problems with some of the basically IMPOSSIBLE death scenes but I won't rant on about that except: "SPOILER >_>" "when the dude hit the fence, so unrealistic.." Beside that the film was over all very good with a few twist. You can tell they are lacking ideas so they are turning to stupid, quicky kills which is whatever. The 3D made the deaths look kinda fake too, 2D it all looked a lot better so before you say it all looked fake, go see the 2D version.

This is what I expected. Teenagers, running around and getting picked off one by one by death, in 3-D! The Final Destination is a wonderfully plotted, simple hack "n" slack horror movie. In 3-D it looks even better, but with watching both 3-D and 2-D editions, I have to say the 2-D edition is alot better. But, aside from the viewings, this is a great, gory horror. The kills were not as good as the previous titles, but still try's to pull you back in with some fresh idea's, but still some re - cycled ones. But, overall, fans of the series, or just budding horror movie fans, go and watch this, for thrills, and gory spills!
This was an ok movie, and really just ok for a 3-D movie is kind of sad. the 3-D pushes it up a notch anyway. The movie ending was sorry, and the death scenes were well planned out but then just did not give you anything that it led up to be. There were cool scenes, like the swimming pool. Overall was no part II, but was better than III. If you miss this you won't even notice or probably care. The movie seemed to be aimed toward adding alot of little hey did you see that kind of stuff. Making sure fans of the series had lots of things to notice that payed homage to older movies.

i have to say as a fan of the "Final Destination" series i went into this movie excited and pumped for an amazing ending the series. Sadly i left quite disappointed. This movie had a lot to offer but it wasnt served. I think the deatsh were dragged on too long like the salon, you think there's going to be an epic accident, but no its all a trick, i did liek that but in the end i think they did it too much. and the acting was HORRIBLE. Janet (Hayley Webb) was the worst :(. the only other thing i hated was how there was barely any REAL fake blood, most of everything was CGI and i was upset. But i did like this movie for its length. it is 82 minutes but it felt 102 and it made me happier cuz i thought i was gunna go in and walk out in like what felt like 56 minutes. The 3D was good but was taken too far in the category of deaths. overall i was satisfied but also disappointed. I think they coulda ended the series better, but thats just my opinion. It was okay. I'd consider renting it more than paying 13 dollars to see it in theatres.
I enjoyed this movie. I definitely think it was better than 3 but I still think part 2 was the best one. I didn't see it in 3d unfortunately but like MBV3D it didn't really hurt because the movie was still entertaining. Some of the kills were pretty good and fresh but a couple were too similar to the other films. Its kind of crazy but
(*SMALL SPOILER*)The ending premonition was actually better then the beginning one which surprised me. Not that the opening one was bad because I didn't think it would top the one from part 2. (*END SPOILER*)
Overall this movie was good. Its the same story as the others but I think everyone knows that. Basically you know the story and your just going to see the creative kills. My personal favorite was the mechanic and the redneck because of the irony.
The Final Destination! If this is the final film in this franchise, I have to say I am a little upset. You cannot tell that there is no where else to go in exploring the mythology or characters. The film was just all about setting up the kills. They could have at least tried to break the formula this time around.
First 3-D movie i have seen in the cinema and yeah it was way cool, the kills however werent' that great given what we expect from a FD movie. A good fun night out at the movies, however if i had seen a 2-d version on DVD i would of thought this was the worst out of the quadrilogy (or whatever you call 4 films).
hell yeah, fd4 beat the monstrosity halloween 2! anyone want to get killed in a new horror movie? check out this shit I found- http://movies.einnews.com/247pr/114489
This Final Destination was fun to watch because everyone loves to see people getting impaled in 3-D! However, the movies always end the same way (won't spoil it for people who haven't seen it yet). The acting wasn't great and the storyline had some flaws, but it was still a fun movie to watch and it was very enjoyable to sit through. Next, I WANT REALITY HELMETS FOR THIS TYPE OF FILM! Just kidding, however it would be even more fun this way.
I give this movie a 7/10.
I'll have to say it had very bad acting and same 'ol same story line, i think they could have mixed it up a little but the dealth scenes where fierce and the 3D just really made it fun! all and all not too bad but not as good as the first two in my book.
@ gorheunter: This is actually the fourth installment in the Final Destination franchise lol.
I mactually rather surprised at the negative reviews some of you are giving this film.
You must be a really miserable person if you can tell me you watched this movie and didnt have a fun time (at the very least).
Its a short movie (90 minutes I believe) and its pretty much nonstop action and killing from the 1st scene.
I think you guys are overanalyzing this movie too much. Its not supposed to be the next Star Wars or anything lol its just a fun flick to go watch with some friends. And its in 3D, TRUE 3D, which was at times breathtaking.
This being the FOURTH in the series, they have run out of ideas for a plot...but it has a plus side, FD4 had some great kills! I must admit, this is the goriest of the 4, and though some kills were about as realistic as the sparkly vampires from twilight, the gore and cringing deaths will keep you entertained for this short finale to a series that needs to just stop!
I know alot of people didn't like this movie but I got a bit of a kick out of it. The 3D was fun and there were some good deaths. Not perfect but if you turn off your brain for an hour and a half you can have fun.
But you must see it in 3D.

Since this is the third I figured they were running out of ideas of new "accidents". From seeing the film yesterday I guess I was right. Accidents just simply do not happen in some crazy way where things almost seem to fall apart or collaborate to create an accident scene. The three D I only appreciated in the dream or visual sequences before they happen. This could have been done way better than this. And I was getting tired of seeing the theory of death being a mean malicious spirit that would get pissed off if it was cheated out of a soul or two. If this was the only premise to the film, it is played out to death and did not make me any more interested in the film than before, which is not much. The only good thing about this film is that the 3D effects were better than My Bloody Valentine, but then the effects on the cartoon Seamboat Willy were better than My Bloody Valentine too.
100% PURE BULLSHIT. A pure waste of my time and money. We liked the first two. The 3rd sucked ass but at least TONY TODD was reused for voice over work. This fuckin flick totally skipped him completly!!
All the deaths were runined in the fuckin trailer!! Nothing worked. Too many over used shots of guts. LAME! Fuck this flick.
The latest installment of the series did not disappoint me. I knew what I was expecting, and the film delivered. The 3d effect was not anything special. The acting was not any better than the other films. The deaths were inventive, and hard to believe. This seems to be the point of the series, and this film falls into the horror-comedy genre. It is about as believable as the fast and the furious films, but if you enjoyed the series so far, especially Final Destination 3, you will be pleased with this film.
THIS WAS SOOOOOOOOO
FUCKING BAD!!
3-D COULD NOT EVEN SAVE THIS MOVIE!!
HALLOWEEN II WAS WAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY
BETTER!!
THE DEATHS IN THIS WERE STUPID AS FUCK!!
If you've seen any of the previous films, you already know the plot. This time around you are getting the same movie with different characters and deaths. This is not a bad thing. Some of the acting wasn't that great, and at time the story was repetitive, but in the end if you came to see the movie, it was because of the deaths. There are plenty to see, so you won't be disappointed by the number and the gore. It's a fun movie that's not meant to be taken seriously. There are plenty of funny lines, and the audience really got into the deaths with lots of ewws and ahhs.
The 3-D wasn't bad, in fact there was once scene that made me try to shield my face.
3D saves this flick from being the worse of the series. The acting was by far the worse in the series.Didn't care for any of the characters. The movie as a whole was just below average but the 3D was fantastic. It made this garbage fun and pretty cool.Don't recommend seeing this in 2D if you want to enjoy the movie.See it with some friends and you'll probably have a good time.Future installments should be in 3D as well.Because doing the same movie over and over again just isn't fun without the 3D.
Well below average. The death scenes in Part 2 were 1000 times better and more imaginitive. Definitely the worst of the series, but still better than most of the drivel released these days.
let me start off by saying that i thought the movie was ok. it was entertaining. and the 3d was the best i have seen yet.!!! now why it was only ok. to start off with i felt the begining crash was a big let down. it was nothing but people being crushed by falling cement. it was wicked lame and i didn't feel my heart raceing while i watched it(like i did for every other crash in the FD series) then i was hit with the only gore moment in the movie. after and including that, we see all these peopel die the x-act way the trailer of the movie told us they would. i had zero suprises. actually thats not true. i went into this movie dieing to see two deaths. the carwash and the mall escilator(spellinglol??) and what i got to see was a girl get rescued from a car wash (only to die later??? no!) and the mall xploding and the escilator breaking down death?? all a premonition!!!! never happends!! so the two deaths i wanted to see, never happen!!!!!! and the acting was horrible!!!!. the main character and the security guard were so bad i could not stand they got the roles they did! this movie was def. the worst in the series and i hope this is not the future of FD. like i said before, the movie was ok, but very very very far from great!

@ Thumper2009:
What kind of Review is "this movie sucked balls halloween beat it by a landslide" supposed to be???
You should review the Movie and NOT compare it to another Movie that opened the same Weekend!!!
You stupid Rob Zombie-Fanboys really annoy me...
Anyway, TFD was ok and entertaining - nothing new, but pretty well made! And the pacing was great!
This movie was great, and the 3D really REALLY adds to it...the death scenes were not as "elaborate" as I thought it would be but it was okay...Looking back, most of the death scenes were already shown in the trailer which sort of took out the fun in them. The whole premonition at the end really took me by surprise and the escalator scene was...THE BEST! True the movie felt rush, but at the same time TFD really keeps your adrenaline pumping. If they should make another movie...emphasizing on the IF, they should combine the thrill TFD had and introduce a new concept that's more original
The movie delivers exactly what you should expect when you buy the ticket. The Final Destination fits decently into the series, but also stands well enough on it's own. No detailed character development or elaborate plot, but great scenes of gore. The added value is that the film mostly has a sense of "fun" to it, sort of like a drive-in movie. I agree with the BD review that the redneck guy added a dark tone, but it didn't bother me as much (I didn't expect a sensitive, politically-correct "R" movie). If you are looking for an expensive version of Troma films, this is it!!

this movie sucked balls halloween beat it by a landslide
Well I love the first three, and was extremely ready to see this but I was so let down! This movie is screaming STOP with the franchise! The kills were not as nearly affective as the first 3 well 2 anyway and the acting was terrible!!! I don't know maybe its because I seen the incredible film that was Halloween 2 on friday with far more affective kills and top A acting especially for a horror film! But this movie just totally sucked! I can't believe how let down I am from it and DAVILD R. ELLIS! I love his style but I can't believe he made this crap! Why is it so hard for a film to be good when they make it 3D!? I mean My Bloddy Valentine was fun and entertaining but I swear thats the only one! idk but this movie ruint FD's for me.From here on out I will be weiry of one that comes out.
Ive been a huge fan of the final destination series since i seen the first one a few years back. I was so hype for this about a year back when i heard it was 3d and that david r ellis was directing it cause final destination 2 was my favorite. I saw this friday morning it came out and thought man this is gunna be awesome! i was slightly wrong. This movie was fun to watch from beginning to end but man the storyline and deaths were the worst in the series. Some deaths were fun and creative but when i was in the movie theater i predictted everyone and knew exactly what was going to happen. The storyline was not the other final destinations. Thy interveined a death at one point but it apparently didnt count and someone that wasnt even involved with the group that was rescued from rubble of the accident died and that counted as restarting the deaths! Thats not final destination but thats what happens when you have a rushed script. From the big death scene you could see that the movie was rushed since the opening death scene was almost everyone being crushed by rubble or blown up by a car with the exception of 3 or 4 people. There was hardly any good gore in the movies. The only good gore was the woman who was killed by the tire. Otherwise everyone else was CGI and crappy. The ending was obviously rushed and the director had no clue how to end it and broke traditonal final destination endings to try to make a good ending but failed miserably. I mean it was animated and shown as skeletons! Yeah the skeleton idea was good for that opening credit scene but the end was just plain bad. The movie gets a 6/10 only because there some good laughs, awesome 3-d effects, and for it being fun to watch for some odd reason. Its worth seeing in the movies for the 3-d.

Just like most others that saw this movie I feel its just too much a retread for me to give it high praise. It is however an entertaining movie from start to finish. These 3d horror events (first my Bloody Valentine now FD4) are more like carnival rides to me than films. Quick running times, fun pop out moments, and tasty moments of gore. Just a fun disposable flick for a sunday night. Go see it if you have nothing else to do. Some good gory highlights, especially the scene in the mall at the end.
EHHH! Just got back home from see this. TFD3D is not very good. The killings are not as good as the others in the series. The 3D is wasted! Too bad H2 is losing the top spot to this dud!
shittiest movie I have ever seen;
actors sucked, and I predicted every death. The first and second were good, Third was alright... but this one, STUPID. It ruined the series for me. DON'T go see it.
Whilst the Deaths are still as grissly as ever, Final Destination has lost the charm it once had.
The story line is quite slow and a bit muddled up. you have to give credit to the writers thought who know how the forumula works for these movies and they go out of their was to make sure the deaths arnt as predictable as they were in the last 3.
The 3D was BRILLIANT and very well used, not as gimmicky as it was in My Bloody Valentine. I was pretty impressed with the opening credits skeletal theme and was used really well in the final death scene.
im giving it a 6 just for the gore and lets face it who doesnt watch a FD movie just for the gore!!
I saw this movie and honestly felt disappointed. I thought David R. Ellis did a great job of the second one but lacked way to much in this film. Most deaths were very unbelievable and the dialog wasn't that great but if your a fan of the movies watch it & if you have high hopes for the movie maybe you would want to pass this one by. The 3D make up for alot of the staleness.
I will have to unfortunately say that this is by far the weakest entry of the series, the most predictable, corny and even the 3D technology wasn't that great and I think they have alot of room for improvement on the 3D technology because it's just underwhelming alot of the times, make it intense! I thought the characters were ok and weren't that annoying and were pretty likable but the acting wasn't that great either. The kills this time around weren't that impressive at all and were predictable and the special effects is the weakest of all movies and it's a shame that they didn't really embrace the 3D technology and it's pathetic that the 3D part didn't do it justice and make it rise above the other sequels and it still ended up being the under performer. This is the hugest disappointment of the summer to me because it makes me lose faith in the series and if this is the closure of the series it definitely didn't go out with a bang by any means. The only thing it still kind of has is that entertaining, fun charm about it that the other ones had too but it's definitely fading away and it's just becoming pointless and not worth your time. Wait for rental!
The Final Destination is a very fun film to watch especially in 3d. you cant expect to take this movie seriously at all. you will laugh after the crazy deaths with your friends. But that is exactly what this movie is supposed to be. There is humor and crazy death scenes in 3d. This is not the best in the series but its defintiely a fun Final Destination film. Go see it.
To me this has been the best horror movie of the eyar so far even better than drag me to hell.
The one thing i didn't like about this movie though was there wasn't much character development but, over the course of the film i learned to care for them.
The acting was kinda questionable at first but then it improved drastically 15 minutes into the movie the best actors of the film being bobby campo and shantel vanstanten. .
The kills in this movie were geat and the 3D made the kills even better
This movie was almost perfect except one lauaable kill and the rushed beginning made this movie not be prefect but so far is the best horror movie of the year and the best final destination movie yet!!
I would say that this film is the weakest of the 4 FD's. It is basically more of the same and it feels like they were really scraping the barrel with the deaths (apart from 1 or 2 of them which were quite inventive).
The acting was average and the effects weren't that good either. Don't get me wrong, this was a fun film and the 3D element certainly added to the experience but it wouldn't do the franchise any harm if a director was to take the story in a different direction.
There were some enjoyable moments and I liked the references to the other films. I couldn't decide whether I liked all the red herrings before someone dies or not. You were kept on your toes trying to think how the next person was going to die but then, when it finally happened I was left a bit let down by how silly some of them were.
I never thought I'd get bored of Final Destination films but they seem to be getting weaker and weaker (or maybe it's just me getting older and wanting a bit more from a horror film franchise rather than the same story every time!).
The Final Destination films have always been more suspenseful than anything, and in a genre full of stalk-and-slash films, they were always a fun diversion and often even encompassed incredibly good film-making. The newest and supposedly last installment in the ten-year series, aptly titled The Final Destination, does an incredible job of matching some of the series' best moments, and ends things in a very satisfying way. Explosions and insanity abound in the new horror film directed by David R. Ellis, and starring Bobby Campo, Nick Zano, Krista Allen, Haley Webb, and Shantel VanSanten.
On what should have been a fun-filled day at the races, Nick O'Bannon has a horrific premonition in which a bizarre sequence of events causes multiple race cars to crash, sending flaming debris into the stands, brutally killing his friends and causing the upper deck of the stands to collapse on him. When he comes out of this grisly nightmare Nick panics, persuading his girlfriend, Lori, and their friends, Janet and Hunt, to leave...escaping seconds before Nick's frightening vision becomes a terrible reality. Thinking they've cheated death, the group has a new lease on life, but unfortunately for Nick and Lori, it is only the beginning. As his premonitions continue and the crash survivors begin to die one-by-one--in increasingly gruesome ways--Nick must figure out how to cheat death once and for all before he, too, reaches his final destination. (from IMDb)
So, the basis of all the Destination films relies on the opening disaster sequence, and in stunning 3-D, I believe I can honestly say that this one was the best of the four. There's all sorts of blood and cool CGI-effects blazing across the screen, it was just a very fun and exciting sequence.
Obviously by now, everyone knows the most enticing aspect about these films: the highly original and creative deaths. In this movie, it's heightened tenfold by the extremely fascinating use of the 3D, which at times sends all sorts of really cool things flying at the screen. We get a lot of really disgusting death scenes and sequences, the coolest stuff definitely taking place at a mall towards the end. Saying even a single word about the hugely inventive deaths in the film would completely spoil the whole point of the movie, but at a series high of eleven, The Final Destination displays the most kills of the entire series.
The 3D works the very best in the film when it comes to the high-definition, CGI-laden premonitions, which are vastly different than the brief glimpses at future events that were in the first and second films (the third had a complete lack of person-to-person premonitions due to the interesting and vastly original picture-death system). The premonitions are highly effective and in-your-face, for once displaying just the perfect amount of foreshadowing without going overboard. And in a Final Destination movie, foreshadowing is what it's all about.
Perhaps the most interesting thing about this installment of the series is seeing the return of "presence" or evil force that was so prevalent in the original movie that started it all. While many of the situations and things this time around were incredibly unrealistic, the 3D definitely was an excuse for all sorts of crazy stuff. The presence works well in this installment, definitely fitting more with the semi-cheesy tone of the film overall. I really enjoyed the red herrings that popped up all throughout the movie; it almost got to a point where you're never really sure quite how a character is gonna bite it, and it makes for an extremely entertaining watch.
The acting? Probably the last thing the audience is thinking about when they come to see a Destination movie. There's some impressive performances here, and a very charismatic lead performance from Bobby Campo, but nobody is trying to win an Oscar here. It's horror, after all. All the actors and actresses are just trying to have a good time, and it really shows. They all work well off of each other. Honestly, with the short runtime, I was seriously concerned that the acting and character development would sort of fall by the wayside. In a lot of ways, the development definitely did, but the actors bring a lot of life to their characters, even the ones who have very little screen time. It's almost like a very fun little ensemble.
David R. Ellis was, absolutely, the perfect choice to close up the final chapter of the franchise. He's at home behind the camera, and he seems to really "get" the whole feel of the movie. The tongue-in-cheek thing is his specialty; he also directed Snakes on a Plane and the well-received Final Destination 2.
What the third film succeeded in the most was three things: character development, highly realistic death scenes, and building tension to a massive boiling point. Where The Final Destination fails in building up much decent character development and in making the deaths hyper-realistic and disturbing, it succeeds in both a fun factor that wasn't present much in the other movies and building tension. Horror-suspense is pretty much the perfect genre classification for these films, and there's just as much fear and intensity emanating from the big screen in this one as there ever was before. A scene toward the middle that I especially liked where two people were in danger at the same time was one that really got to me.
For months now, I've been raving about how badly I wanted to see this movie. After all, it was without a doubt my most anticipated movie of 2009. Did it live up to the hype? Hell yes. It was every bit as brutal as I was expecting and I pretty much loved everything about it. One of my favorite things about the movie was the highly original opening credits sequence, which was sort of a lament to all of the series' death scenes. It was very well-orchestrated, and it set an extremely fun mood for the scenes that followed. All in all, this was definitely near the top of my list for best horror films of the year. It was absolutely fantastic.
While I still think Final Destination 3 was the perfect film and the best out of the stellar franchise, The Final Destination was definitely a good contender and loads of tongue-in-cheek fun. I dug the characters, dialogue, death scenes, and ending a whole hell of a lot, and I'd recommend it to any fan of the franchise or any fan of 3D.

Holy shit BD! That was misleading review of the year by far(closely followed by Plague Town)!!!
This film, aside from the 3D, was God-awful! The story was awful. It was like an even more watered down version of Final Destination 3 (which also was a disappointment- but not as bad as this)! The trailer is pretty much all of the story. Just stretch it for about 80 min.
Everything was spoonfed to the characters. There were no plot set-ups. No discovery. The characters just seemed to breeze through it like they had seen the previous entries. This also played in the death scenes. It's like, "Oh! These glasses will set...THIS saw dust on fire now! Then...there's a ton of GAS on a cart! Yeah! Then...I got it! There's a bunch of barrels full of....Shit that blows up! Yeah that's cool! Lets just not introduce it ahead of time so the audience can moan: 'How convinient...'!!"
The acting was bad...BAD. Characters were always looking in random ass directions like they were in a fucking Broadway play and they never succesfully displayed any emotion. I never even felt fear (which is really what made the first so great). These kids also apparently have no jobs, but they live in nice apartments all suited out in flatscreens, etc. What the hell? They look 19!
The kills, although occasionally inventive, were either bad CG or BAD latex fx. 3D couldn't even help there.
This movie, much like Bloody Valentine, spent more time making sure the 3D cameras were shiny than paying attention to the script. It's like it's a sin to make a good 3D movie. Before they think 3D, they should make sure the script stands up alone.
I bet the creators of the original cringed in their sleep when audiences first saw this.
That said, the 3D is pretty good and I still don't feel TOTALLY robbed. Be warned: SEE THE 3D VERSION.
I liked the Final Destination series okay, but hated this one...I HATED the Halloween remake, but kinda enjoyed H2... Wierd.
IMO this was what it was meant to be and that is 3D fun. Perry explained what this movie was meant to be and what it ended up being and that is a ton of 3D fun. The CGI blood looked bad at parts but the deaths still worked. The characters weren't the greatest but were much better than part 3's characters. Bottom line is The Final Destination 4 is nothing but 3D fun.
One of my favorite horror franchises is definatly the "Final Destination" films.
Although so far none have been even close and probably will never be as close
to the original film, that film was fresh and not only one of my favorite horror films
of that year but its probably one of the best horror films of the last 20 years.
I love the unpredictable-ness of deaths in horror films and when you have a killer with a
face and/or mask, you already know this individual is going to be killing people.
but when death has no face or identity and can arrive and form into any sort of
"accidental" looking death i find it to be above other horror films
as certain things about this franchise make it better than others.
With that said, I want to first comb through quick opinions about the
first 3, as I mentioned the first is the best and probably will always be the best.
the second one was in my opinion probably the best of the sequels thus far.
The 3rd had the wonderfully genius concept of a rollercoaster being
where the deaths originate through premonition in the beginning.
But I felt part 3 really lacked something within it and I dont know quite
what was so different and less good than the others, the death scenes were
good and always fun and always are, but I think the characters in the film
really lacked something, perhaps chemistry and geniune fear, which I felt was
best portrayed in the first two and havent been as good since.
Moving to The Final Destination (3D)
I hate the title because it's a cheap marketing gimmick to eliminate a sequel
number in its title, which, they must think somehow weighs down the film to be
not as important, well I dont think it does a thing for the film except show
that marketing is very important over quality.
Another film to follow this trend earlier was "Fast & Furious" which was actually
part 4 in that crappy film series, so by adding OR removing "The" and eliminating a sequel
number its supossed to somehow fool the public & audience?...do they really think us
to be that stupid?...well seeing as how some of the crappy films that are being made today
im sure they are quite aware of the majority of stupidity that exists in this movie going society.
This franchise is perfect for the real 3D technology as I see it making a better watching
experience as the deaths are mostly unpredictable and can come at you anyway, which with that
formula its really great and perfect for 3D.
This film obviously is going to re-use the thinning formula of the same ol same ol beginning,
the accident, the grizzly deaths killing nearly or basically everybody, then snap back
to an earlier moment as someone realizes they just had a premonition of death and how it happens,
while taking a group sitting near out of the danger zone and saving their life
as they see this accident happen. then as usual, death returns to capture the people who
escaped and made it out alive. this formula in my opinion has run its course, I highly suggest
doing something really really different for the next film, by different I of course mean that
why does it always have to be a person with a premonition and "visions", I think there is
potential for truly intellegent and creative storylines that dont always need to result to
teenagers being the victims.
BUT as I mentioned marketing is all that matters and the majority of the audience will have
no patience for an intellegent and well thought out movie that offers something better
psychologically. therefor this formula will ALWAYS be used in this franchise, which is unfortunate
because I think certain aspects of the films have now run its course and unless there is real
intellegence in the next film, it will be not only same ol same ol but probably nearly
unbearable to watch.
I do credit this film for actually having at least one different and new character (played by "bubba" from the
forest gump film, mylkelti williamson...i think i spelled it right?)
but this character i felt was really the interesting character and should have
been focused on more and came to a better conclusion than one reached in this film.
For all this bad there still remains the fact that these films are still more fun and
clever than most modern horror films, say the "saw" sequels for example,
this franchise is here to give you the craziest, goriest and most creative death scenes
while playing with you and trying to make you think it might happen one way, but
happens another way.
The 2 lead characters couple, were unconvincing when seemingly always facing
possibilities of death getting them.
But the film I still recommend to anybody wanting to experience the usual schenangans
from these films but in 3D as its more fun this way and I probably would give it a lower
rating had it been in 2D.
I wanted to like it, because I really enjoyed the first 3, but I just couldn't get into it. I'll give it a second viewing after awhile and see if my opinion changes.
The best out of the series. We are all used to the formula and are spared from the now unnecessary explinations. It is pure entertainment, and works fabulously in 3D. The main characters all all good-looking, all that is required in this meat grinder. I found my heart thumping during some scenes and had to give credit to the films ability to build tension and surprise its audience. The movie theater tragedy works really well for theaters.
The final destination is what it is. A gratuitous plethora of grotesque and bizzare deaths. If this is already insufficient, then you are clearly the wrong audience for the film. It's typical, disposable Hollywood fare that is highly fun and great entertainment. Being a fan of the three predecessors, I can say that the film is a huge highlight in the series. Like I previously mentioned, a disposable Hollywood film, that is briskly paced entertainment.
I had low expectations for this film, considering it's the fourth sequel to take on the fun but now tired "You screwed up death's plan and he's pissed" premise. The Final Destination met these expectations, but by no means exceeded them.
That said, The Final Destination was also extremely predictable and not in the least bit scary. It felt a lot more like an action flick than a horror film. Even the high-energy remix of the original theme seemed to be trying to pump up the audience rather than making us feel uneasy. Showing how every single death was going to play out with a blatant premonition pretty much killed any suspense. Finally, the story was kind of all over the place, and seemed to break a lot of the premise's own rules.
That said, I still had fun at this movie. The death scenes, while easily predicted, were still spectacular and creative. The 3D was fun, but gave me a headache for some reason (other 3D movies haven't had this effect, so I'm not sure what the problem was).
If you take this movie for what it is, you'll enjoy it. You can certainly be comforted that this installment was much better than the abysmal third movie. Just don't expect any substance, plot development, or to remember the names of the characters the next day.

Death has always had a design for the folks in the Final Destination films, but it does seem with this fourth installment and the definitive "The" before the title, that death has finally zeroed in on the series itself.
Let me say right up front that I enjoyed The Final Destination for pure entertainment value. I enjoyed the 3-D, I thought the actors were attractive enough to hold my interest, the deaths were wonderfully creative and gory, and in terms of strict formula and fun this film delivered.
Most will think the plot was weak, and I suppose I have to admit to some degree that the movie is basically sleepwalking through the old formula we know so well. Everything is there, just as we left it. Nothing really new, but nothing really to make a fan of these flicks not like it.
So in that, it delivers everything I was hoping for; just not anything more. No new plot points or turns.
I do look forward to its DVD release, to completing my collection, to re-watching some great death scenes. I do expect, and hope, that this really is the FINAL destination film. Anything past this fourth film can only be expected to be bad, straight-to-DVD money grabs.
I give this one seven out of ten, because I'm feeling generous and as far as sequels are concerned this one wasn't bad. Most importantly, it doesn't screw up the three that came before it.
definentaly the worst of the series, its not terrible but its not great (8 out of 10 mr d NO!)the acting was horrible, i almost walked out to H2, the kills were to animated and unrealalistic, but its an ok pop corn flick (should hav stayed wit 3) just hope this is the last in the series for good! H2 4EVER!!!!!!!!!!!!
when i heard that this latest installement to the final destination series was going to be in 3D i thought, "hey this could be a turn for the worst or this could be one of the greatest choices they made for the series".
OH MY GOD it was the perfect choice for a movie like this. It was stunning 3D effects creative death scenes and doesnt fall short of the others, may not be the best final destination but it stays true to the series by delivering suspense and creativity.
now for the bad things. Acting wasnt the most impressive thing here (but hey no one is here to win an oscar.) way too short so that rushed the death scenes and there wasnt enough character development for me to care about any of the characters when they died.
So to end this review i have to say this is the most fun ive had at a theatre in a long time and i just want to say to those people going into this movie saying "this should be the most impressive movie of the summer". well it does surpass most dissapointments we call movies nowadays this movie should not be taken seriously so just go in and have a RoCk-N-RoLL fun time and bring some friends!
"maybe we werent supposed to survive"

dont be swayed by the review on the site. This film is a 3D cash grab which does a disservice to the originals.
This movie barely deserves the rating I'm getting it. Probably 1/5th of the movie had good material. The acting was just too laughable and the dialogue... they really could find a better writer that is for sure. But the swimming pool scene and the car wash scene bump up the rating for me. Those were really good.
The 4-star review is also confusing me a bit (like some of the other users). While the 3-D gave the deaths a lil' something extra, I thought after a while, everything just became too "less-than." It just felt like everyone was walking thru the scenes and the deaths with no real emotion. I mean, I realize fans (such as myself) come to this franchise for the cool deaths; but something about this one felt undernourished.
That said, I did see Halloween right after it and I thought H2 was much better. The brutality of Michael had me thinking, "Wow, Michael is mad!" And then I would chuckle and wait for the next fatality. Though it did touch on some weird stuff. But even though TFD had the more creative deaths, I think H2 deaths were much more real and looked to hurt more.
Though I'm pretty sure I'll be there opening day/night for the next Final Destination (don't care what the "The" implies, I'm planning on seeing the next installment--perhaps a prequel? :), I was majorly disappointed in this one.
Final Destination 3d - 3/5 - A fun experience. If you don't care about character development and just fun way to kill off teens in 3d, this film delivers. Its worth repeating this movie isn't good at all. I don't think at one moment I took this film seriously which made the experience great. What's the deal with them no realizing they are immortal if they attempt to kill themselves. he black guy clearly stated, I tried to kill myself 3 times now and i wont die. The lack of care of said black man dying...twice is very comical. I love how the main guy doesn't even skip a beat and continues on with his day even though a ambulance just splattered the guy walking behind him. For a third time. There is zero character development. I couldn't save my life telling you what the main guy did, was he a student, working? All we know is his gf needed a study break and they ended up at a race track. That being said Final Destination 3d is a one of the best ways to waste an hour plus at your movie theater. The experience wont help you find greater meaning about a subject but you will laugh and genuinely have a good time.

Probably my favorite by far, I'm not looking for deep character development or any side story aside from the fact that these people are trying to escape death and do it in the most suspenseful way possible and the 3D just seemed right
Terrible acting but fun as hell! Made up for sitting through Halloween II earlier in the evening. The 3D was a great enhancement, but not necessary to the movie. Seeing clean, attractive people creatively killed is much preferable to seeing grubby losers stabbed and bludgeoned any day.

Saw this in 3D less then an hour ago and disappointed didn't begin to explain it, the music in the opening and ending WERE F***ING GREAT, But that didn't make up for the horrible acting except on the part of maybe George, the black security guard, who we sort of felt for during a few moments in the movie beside that it's a by the numbers movie. The only thing that surprised me was the use of the word "Nigger" it's used once and Dixieland is whistled by the same guy who says the N word but they make him too much of a modern racist stereotype that was even about to burn a cross on George's lawn which leads to funniest use of the song "WHY CAN'T WE BE FRIENDS" used in a horror movie. CGI was another hit to this movie, the CGI was great...when titanic came out AND the fact that the newest James Cameron movie(he directed Titanic) "Avatar" had it's 3D trailer RIGHT BEFORE this movie didn't help. The ending was just a copy paste of FD3's. Don't see this in 3D, Don't see this in IMAX ,DON'T SEE THIS MOVIE. Oh yeah they had a fake 3D movie IN A 3D Movie!!! and guess what the 3D glasses you had didn't work when you saw the fake 3D movie within the movie!
Then there's my biggest 3 complaints.1) Beside the opening they didn't mention the accidents from 2(the traffic accident) or 3(the Roller coster) they only brought up Flight 180. 2) Beside the pool death and the dragging death along with the bathtub death all of the Kills were just reworked versions of another kill from another FD(the Mom's was the kid from FD1 who got that shard of scrap through the face). 3) WHERE THE F*** IS TONY TODD! not even a voice cameo this time like FD3's Finale, he's just NOT IN THE MOVIE!

this movie was good i really liked the second premonition then the first one the second one was pretty intense and i liked how the red hair girl started seeing shit to. pretty cool i still think H2 was better.
ps. why do people(the ones that talk smack all day) even bother watching movies you know will suck? ha watch you guys will be first in line to see that i know what you did last summer type movie wow
i'm officially at a loss for words. i know most of you don't like this series, simply because of the fact that it opened the same weekend as our movie! the movie that brought us all together (which i'm very thankful for ). anyways, The Final Destination is easily the worst entry into the franchise, plain and simple. honestly, i don't know why the director listened to the test screeners who said the movie was too long, i would rather have it be 2 and a half hours than 1 HOUR AND 15 FREAKING MINUTES. it was without a doubt the most rushed movie i have ever seen in my entire life.
THE 3D ASPECT: i was expecting so much more from the 3D. it only made me TRULY jump ONCE, and that was toward the very beginning when a screw flies toward the screen. other than that, i spent the entire movie feeling like i was on the brink of a grand mal seizure. if you enjoy your head pounding while trying to enjoy the theater experience, GO SEE THIS MOVIE! HOWEVER, i though the whole x-ray opening credits and ending was VERY cool.
THE CAST: okay, now i appreciate a smokin' hot sexy cast as much as the next bisexual kid. i mean, these four main players looked like they jumped right off a page of the Abercrombie catalog (THAT would've been cool in 3D). while the eye-candy was half worth the admission price alone, does the casting director go out of his/her way to find the most awful 20-somethings to ever grace celluloid? i'm thinking 10-4 on that one.
THE PREMONITIONS: the opening premonition was definitely the shortest, lamest, and most ludicrous premonition out of the franchise. like the rest of every single scene in the movie, it was just missing something. i couldn't identify what it was. it was something, though.
THE DEATHS: they should've left it to me to concoct deaths for this one. how unoriginal and uninspired could a final destination movie possibly get? i got my answer from this one. the salon scene: we get this incredible, suspensful build-up to this woman's demise - she's in a SALON, we KNOW it's gonna be NASTY. after about 5 minutes of white knuckles, a rock is simply shot out a lawnmower straight into her eye. i felt cheated. the pool scene: i expected so much more from this scene. seriously, we don't even see the guy get sucked into the drain. just the aftermath. on a positive note, however: the escalator scene was SICK. props to the filmmakers for that.
tomorrow, i'm going to see H2. if it sucks as bad as this movie, i will officially begin taking depression meds. one user on IMDb described this movie as "it makes the first three look like the lord of the rings trilogy". i whole-heartedly agree.
I can't believe this shit got 4 skulls...I loved the first two of these, then the third one fucking blew. Don't get me wrong the deaths were tight which is why i'll give it a skull instead of half of one, but fucking christ this shit is played out.
Lol stupid kids saying H is better and I bet they havnt even seen it typical kids. Now this is far better ive read so many bad reviews on other sites. FD is thought out and clever death it's the 4th one ITS THE 12TH HALLOWEEN DUH WITH A DAMN HIPPY TRAMP MAKING IT GROW UP REAL FILM FD.
I went into the movie not really expecting it to be amazing. I went to see this movie to laugh and have a good time watching people die in ridiculous ways, and that is what i got. What I really did love though was all the little refrences to the past 3 movies. I'd say see it in 3D or don't see it at all haha
I love the last three movies, so I had to see this one. I didn't get to see this in 3D, so I saw just the regular one... that might have made a difference since BD gave it a 4/5.. because what I saw was a 2/5. The deaths looked cheesy, the actors couldn't act and the black guy dies, AGAIN! Sadly, the previews before the movie were scarier than this actual movie... *sigh*, but that's just my opinion, which is, this movie sucks.
i liked it thought it was entertaining didnt think it was the best of the franchise i thought the whole cinema 3d stuff at the end got a little stupid....its not terrible some of the kills were actually pretty good and very creative i loved the opening credits sequence thought was very cool...would deffinetely advise going to see it just dont expect anything new and revealing about the franchise
I went in wanting to be entertained, and I was. I was very pleased with it. I had many good laughs (the car wash) and jumped more than once. Anyway, I got what I expected and loved the 3D aspect of it. Great final entry to the series!
i really liked it...
everything... could slowed down on the 2nd premotion... and ending was meh, but i got use to then ending so i dont mind it... but other then that. .the 3d really help and scared the crap out of me..
This was my first 'horror' cinema experience, due to the fact that I only turned 15 last week. And i must say, this was also the most fun experience I've ever had there. The gore was perfect, and though the story is what everyone knew it would be, it couldn't stop me from enjoying it. I loved the majority of the kills (however the MILF kill was a bit dull and unoriginal to be fair) and It was probably my favourite chapter in the series!
Now, on to the negatives:
The way that the premonitions in between the two main death sequences went too fast, and because of the way that the trailer showed lots of the suspenseful build-ups, you knew straight away who was going to be killed, which kinda ruined the thrill of seeing certain deaths. And another thing that I didn't like was the very end, and the way that they copped out on any more real bloodshed by using the animation from the beginning. And those two reasons are why I'm giving this movie a reasonable 8/10 Skulls.

Lame
Posted By: halloweenfan at 11:53am, August 28, 2009
Anyone who goes to see a movie from this franchise isn't going for the story or acting. I just got back from the midnight screening and left having seen exactly what I went for: a bunch of people dying in a bunch of different ways.
I was disappointed to see that they were unable to top the highway accident from the second film as they planned, but that just means a great scene remains on top.
I've been debating whether seeing the movie in 3D was really necessary. The ticket price was increased and I found the 3D effect to be enhancing in less intense situations and more distracting during the action. Maybe that's just because this was my first 3D experience but it was an experience nonetheless.
As for deciding which movie to go see in theaters, The Final Destination or Halloween 2... why not go see both?
This movie was really lame. Lame Kills, Lamer story, Lame acting. Hot guys. Terrible movie. I think this franchise has finally run it's course. Should have seen Halloween.

WOW. It is my opinion that this movie shall win the battle for "better movie" between this and Halloween 2.
This movie moves a great pace, and what is best about it, you don't care about the characters. You are just wishing death upon them. You feel sympathy for none of them, and when they die (brutally I might add) you are cheering.
The deaths in this movie, are beyond gruesome. They are some of the coolest deaths one will ever see on screen, in 3-D! Trust me on this, the 3-D enhances this movie greatly. The kills are so creative, and so utterly painful looking, that you might actually cringe a bit in pain in between cheers of utter enjoyment out of watching... Well I won't spoil some of these soon to be legendary kills.
The ending is expected but I didn't care because the rest of the movie rocked. Do yourself a favor and don't wait for this movie to come out on DVD. Seeing this movie in the theaters in 3-D is must, you will kick yourself later if you don't.
It is true that this movie is more of the same, but when you have a formula that works, and you continue being beyond creative with the deaths, who cares. This movie isn't about a storyline anymore, it is the same storyline from the first 3. We continue supporting this franchise because it is creative and fun, and we love seeing people mutilated in the most brutal way possible.
Went to a screening last night and I thought it was pretty good. Some great kills and some kinda lame but kills nonetheless. The ending was ok not too happy about it but ok with it. The 3D was really good. I think they might do another one or maybe even 5 more because no one can figure out how to stop death!! In the end it was a good flick to checkout. It was better than the third one IMO!!!
