"A grim fairytale."
Not only is it a grim tale, it is one of the best.

Truly this is the first horror movie i saw..when I was like three or four.and is my fAVORITE of all time...

When you guys say this movie could be more gory, if you think about it..pumpkinhead is supposed to kill them in a brutal manner. theres carving of the skin, face smashing, back braking, beatings and impalments. It could use more blood though, but it would look cheesy if he took out their organs or ripped their jaw in half or some shiit like that...it doesnt fit the movie.

dont get me wrong that stuff is cool but not for this film

This is how a movie monster can be made right without computers. The effects still hold up.The film is classic as well.Cool plot,OK acting, and a great monster.

pumpkinhead looked more like an alien then a monster none the less it was an ok movie. could have used more gore

Truly awesome film. Not the best written or best acted or most original horror film by any means, but the effects are top notch and really showcase how awesome a monster could look 20 years ago AND not be computed generated. Really makes me wish film makers would take notice and go back to using natural creature effects; it's almost becoming a lost art. Pumpkin head is insanely terrifying looking and, when you take into account how he walks and his sheer massive size, it's all the more impressive how real they made the damn thing look.

Mad fucking props creature effects dude. May you rest in peace.

Pumpkinhead is like having a growth on your dick...
at first it can be cool, but it doesn't really do much to grow on you (no pun intended). Pumpkinhead has a good premise for a horror film, but by the end of the movie, I thought that it could have been considerably better.
As a fan of 'creature features,' I was impressed with the story, the acting by Henriksen, and the cinematography. Unfortunately, it falls short in the gore department. The gore in this movie has its moments, but it's nothing to write home about. As I said, the cinematography is beautiful, and lends itself to an air of futility when the creature is present; and in the early parts of the movie I enjoyed the small-town vibe, even if it was populated by Southern rednecks (I even think I detected a bit of social commentary in there). All in all, it's a very solid action/horror movie that will please anyone who likes creature features, but it isn't going to rewrite the rules of the genre. I recommend it.

One of the few(VERY few) movies that creeped me out as a little kid. I dont know why, but its erie creepy and just scary. The monster is awsome, possibly my favorite monster movie. Great 80's horror, very underated.

this movie has one of the coolest movie monsters behind the fly in it. helps that lance henricksen, one of my favorite actors, is in it. R.I.P stan winston.

Great little 80's horror gem. Great story & atmosphere. Includes the best movie-witch of all time, "Haggis" (spelling?). Directed by the late Stan Winston, an icon of the Sci-fi/horror genre. His creations are timeless images that will last generations. A great film!!!

One of the best horror/creature films I've seen in a long, long while. Pumpkinhead is one of the scariest designs of a creature ever. This film had a lot of story behind it, whilst maintaining an excessive amount of action violence and killing. The acting for the most part was good, music was creepy and fun, the filming locations were very creepy and overall fantastic, the plot delivered 100%. This will remain as one of my most favorite horror movies of all time. Highly recommended to anyone who likes any kind of horror movie. Very fun to watch.

one of my all time favorites!! i rate it up there with halloween. this movie deserves more credit than it gets!! the story is great, the characters you actually care about, not to mention pumpkinhead himself is just terrific!! it was directed by the great stan winston! one of many icons he left behind and will forever be cherished by many avid horror fans!!

This is truly one of the all time best Halloween / Horror movies. It is highly underrated and deserves to be up there with cream of the crop. It had a very limited theatrical release when in the 80's...but now has a large cult following and is a tribute to some of the greatest talents in horror films. Not only a great story...but great acting and fantastic special F/X thanks to the great Stan Winston and his team. If you have not seen this gem yet...you owe it to yourself if you call yourself a horror fan. Get the new Collector's Edition that was released this year...it is the best version available currently. They also have a terrific documentary in the special features section that is very well done. Just get this movie now...you won't regret it!

my absolute favorite monster movie ever, pumpkinhead goes back to the scary days of actual monsters! stan winston's creature is the best, most involved project. facial expressions, hand gestures, even the way he walks are facinating to watch. lance henrickson is great, loved the scene when he makes it to the old woman's cabin in the woods. if you haven't seen this yet, i think you won't be disappointed. great for halloween!!
