Definitely the weakest out of the Saw films.I even think five was better. This one only focused on gore! I don't mind gore but u can't take a movie a solely base it on that! there was nothing strong here but that!
Too Much Gorey for a Saw film which I like gorey films but this jus made me sick the plot story was crazy but actin very good and deaths ecxcenllent not my fvourtie saw film but enjoyble for us fans :)
Kind of worked on some levels, but still the weakest of the first four. I highly enjoyed the back story of Jigsaw, but outside of that there really wasn't a reason to make this. The story had been told through three flawed but fun films, there wasn't really any need to tell more.
Much better than Saw III, Saw II and even Saw! Saw 4 was everything I wanted from a saw movie, it was one of the best movies i have ever seen! Loved every minute of it!! 10/10 stars
Much better then III, IV still has its short comings. Here, we learn about John Kramer's past through a series of flashbacks which can be confusing for those who do not pay attention to detail. Still, there is enough going on here to keep fans loyal. Detective Mathews fate is decided, and John's successor is revealed.
Saw 4 is another good entry in the series. not GREAT, but good. i liked how it all started and riggs story was pretty interesting. it was cool seeing detective matthews again and them finally getting back to his story. this entry is a bit gruesome but thats not a bad thing. i would have given this a higher score but the ending is something else. i liked it alot and thought it was cool how they integrated 3 and 4 like that, but it can be very confusing and was when i first seen it. i also liked who is revealed to be carrying on jigsaws legacy. overall pretty good entry, not the best, but i wouldnt say its the worst either, this one would fall in the middle, a let down from the amazing saw 3 but on par with the others.
okay, in this movie, the autopsy scene where they cut open Jigsaw's body is a little too graphic.
the games that Officer Rigg played were cool, but the part where Eric Matthew's head gets splattered by blocks of ice was extreme.
it was a good movie, by why won't the franchise end? it's getting too graphic and violent!

OK its good but aleast they could have stoped here! This should have been the last one.

Please End already. Its getting out of hand at this point. First three were great..since then the story has shape shifted so many sharp turns you could literally get cut off screen.
While i think they should have stopped at 3 this movie after viewing it twice because I think the first time I saw it I really didn't like it but the second go around I thought this movie worked pretty well. The one thing I really liked about this is it gave some more background story on John and how he came across alot of the people he placed in his games. While the ending was surprising for all the wrong reasons it set up part 5 to where I was actually interested in seeing it. The only thing I really didn't like was a certain character was back and really should have been dead but wasn't. i thought it was a little bit of a stretch. I also think the twist at the end worked really well when you think about (not who was helping jigsaw but they way everything took place) part 4 is probably ranked 4 out of all the movies. It wasn't bad but it was definitely a decline from part 3.

The Saw series has come a long way, hasn't it? It's fourth movie, but not as good as the previous movies. Saw 4 is all about the traps, no plot, horrible acting but plenty of wonderful gore and nasty traps. As I said, the plot isn't there at all. Nothing is very well done here, except what you see on screen. No back story at all. The acting isn't that great either, but pretty much everything else is solid, including the scary as hell sound track music. Saw 4 is a dissapointment for fans of the previous 3, but is worth a place in anyones DVD collection.
This was actually one of my favorites out of the series and I know a lot of people will be like your crazy. but I genuinely loved it. In my eye the traps were creative as allways, the movie gave us a better insight into jigsaws motives and past, and over all it worked really well with the entire series if you were to watch all the saw series as I did night by night you would see how well they work as a whole the reason im giving this a eight and not a ten is because after I watched the movie I didnt really know what was going on but then I read a review that explained it and it showed that the movie is actually extreamly smart and when I saw the 5th movie most of my questions were gone I myself personally cant wait for saw VI all though I hope they leave it at that. hope this review was helpfull. here is a link to the page that explain saw IV to me when I was confused beware though that the page in the link contains spoilers.

Not much to say about it plot-wise. It's almost like this whole movie was just a filler. The fifth installment had much more in the story department. Nothing to sneeze at effects-wise. A solid movie, as usual. 7/10
I actually thought this was the best twist/surprise ending of all the Saw films.
Whoever said they saw this coming is freaking kidding themselves. They came out of NOWHERE with this one. I was still confused when the movie ended, had to watch it again. Great stuff.
The gore, as always, is top notch, and I enjoyed the main character's story too. Nice to see Wahlberg back as well, great death involved with him.
All in all my second favorite behind Saw III, except it could be tied because they're both...well, you'll see.
Saw Is Now A Much Larger Film Series Meaning They Can UPDATE Anything In Anyway But Unlike Horror Films In This Installment Proves That Jigsaw Is Not A Killer Once Again Everythinks Hes Dead Just Like After Saw 2. As Long As The Series Keeps Going You Should Know A Killer Or Mastermind Never Dies Till The Last One Standing.
In Saw 4 We Find Our HEro From the First 3 Being In A Autopsy Nice Trick "Saw" We Learn In The Film That Mark Hoffman First Seen In Saw 3. Was Helping Jigsaw In Saw 3 He Set Up Troys Trap And Officer Kerry Was On The Money So He Set up Kerrys Trap We All Know This By Now But After People/Me Seen Saw IV We Knew Saw V Was In Good Hands Since Jigsaw Died In The Ending Of Saw IV
And Mark Hoffman Will Carry On The Series.
Its A Thriller With Great Production.
Other then first Saw movie, this was easily my 2nd favorite, the twist at the end is incredible where Saw III was running the same time as Saw IV, traps were awesome, great story on how and why john became jigsaw, Rigg's acting was awesome in the movie and it was amazing all he had to do was sit back and just wait 90 minutes and Eric would have been saved, unreal. Saw V was dissapointing overall to me though, but this one was spectacular, can't wait for Saw VI
The worst out of the bunch, and I am an extremely big SAW fan. It was extremely dull... except 2 scenes: the scalp pull and Donnie Wahlberg's death. I barely even remember what happened, it was so boring.
I'm quite suprprised with all the bad comments on this! I thought it was brilliant! The plot is confusing, but if you concentrate and watch it again you can easily understand it. This has the whole package, gore, traps and footage of jigsaw before he turned twisted and what made him want to kill everybody! There is never a dull moment and it introduces some new key characters adding more onto the storyline! JESUS!!! I DONT WANT SAW TO STOP!
*****

Another pretty great entry.
Excellent story, traps, and all your SAW goodies.
However, like V (which was great and is quite underrated), IV is for the die hard fans. Like all of the Saw films, the acting isn't perfect, and the quick cuts are way overdone, but everything works out nicely, like in V.
Bring on Saw VI.

While not as good as the other 3, this installment did it's job of being more of an explanation piece and a way to tie up some loose ends then a straight up gore fest. Now we have a new character to focus on, and the majority of past characters of any value are gone, along with a lot of questions answered (of course, there are new questions as well, but thats what Saw 5 is for). If you've stuck with the series to far, give this a shot.
prolly the 3rd best in the series, if you like the others this one will more than likely agree with you even if it is some other schmuck killin people.
A downfall. As i expected, this was a downfall from #2 and #3 which are great, this was average, and didn't leave much to the imagination. This film was way too confusing that i had to see it agin to realise that the story is taking place at exactly the same time as #3. What was even more confusiong was the ending, it left nothing to the imagination but was slightly predictable.
The plot wasn't very great, with jigsaw's wife not impressing me that much. There wasn't much gore, no really great scenes except for the one where the woman's skull is getting ripped. Other than that this was pretty bland, but was much better than the first film.
The acting was great, but without a solid good plot, it doesn't really show.
Overall Saw 4 isn't as great as #2 and #3, but is better than the first. A must for any Saw fan. My rating is 3/5.
I like this type of story line......I read how people don;t like saw continuing on but I just like puzzles.....I don;t see why not I mean if there was Jason 1, 2, 3, 100 or Freddy also....why can't this go on?.....I mean how many time can we go camping and or have nightmares?.....at lease saw is creative in putting people together that have done wrong?....that is far better then some camp or falling a sleep....the mind is better then might I say.

Although some people may not agree, this is probably one of may favorite saw films. The twist was amazing and the backstory to jigsaw was incredible. Not to mention amazing traps and an awesome autopsy scene.
You know, I watched this movie a few times, probably four or five, when I owned it, and that wasn't more than four months ago. But looking back on it now, I can't remember barely anything from it. I guess it was just that forgettable.
This one didnt do much for me when i saw it in theaters but after a couple more viewings on dvd over the past year, its really grown on me and i think its on par with parts 2 and 3.
i thought the flash back were great to see how it all started

Saw IV Wow Did Not Picture IT In 2006 They Made A Hell Of Money With 3 Why Go Any Further Well Heres Whats Left Jigsaw Could Be In A Coma Or Be Superhuman Or have A Unknown Sidekick Pop Out Of The Bed Oh No Not The Saw Way They Keep Going Back Then >> Well This Film Was Great For The Fans Well The Real Fans The Twist Was Great
SAW- Twist: The Killer Was In The Middle
Saw 2- Twist: Daniel Was In The safe
Saw 3- Twist: Amanda Is A Killer
Saw IV-Twist: Under 90 Minutes
Saw V-Twist:Hoffman Failed And It Goes On...
The Series Is Great For People Whom Want To Be shocked...
Eh. Compared to the others, this one is sort of incomparable. Goes in a different direction than the others. Still good death scenes, but I did not really enjoy the story line.
wow i seen this movie in theaters boy did i regret it
i hate the saw series mainly becuase it's getting old and dumb fast i mean come on stop already at least take a year or two off from making sequels
come on saw 6? whats next saw 7: jigsaw vs jason
and then what? saw 8 jigsaw meets the The Jetsons
it should have been done with at saw 2 thats what they were good
how at the start is jigsaws body being dissected in the postmortem when his body also appears at the end of the film in the room in which he died in the third movie without any signs of the postmortem ever happening?his bidy is 2 places at once.doesn't seem to make any sense.will somebody please explain this to me or is it a flaw in the story?

My forth(weird)favorite saw movie there is it haves what the other have but the thing i didnt liked was the ending because i dont know it just didnt fit in that hoffman turned out to be the killer besides it was really obvious from the beginning and other think i liked was that we finally how was jigsaws life and how did he became one of the most famous killers

This is by no means the best Saw movie made, however it is a worthy sequel that does not dissapoint. many people have complained that the story is too confusing and that the ending makes no sense. I strongly disagree. I found it to be very straightforward and simple, you just have to know the previous Saw movies well enough to remember how things are linked. I see no reason for them to discontinue filming Saw movies, as it is a very profitible franchise and if the writers can keep the story going well enough, there is no reason to end our entertainment.

I've seen all the "Saw" movies and Saw IV is my least favorite, but it isn't a bad film. Saw IV has creative traps, more gore, and I guess if you love the Saw movies you'll like this one. Although Saw IV didn't really have that bright acting and was slow in some parts. Overall I give Saw IV 6 out of 10 or 3 out of 5 skulls.
After SAW 3 it would seems it would be difficult to make a decent screenplay, besides it wouldn’t be written by the original writers, but the new ones knewn how to make an interesting history with intelligence, although at first sight is difficult to assimilate, it’s an intense and dynamic film tied with the previous ones.
To Be Quite Honest Saw 4 Is The Worst In This Unneeded Series. The Acting Was Downright Insulting. The Story Was Not Very Interesting,And The Main Characters Were Not Very Dynamic Or Interesting.

My least favorite. I was very disappointed.Very boring, Acting was horrible, Story was horrible, and the twist at the end was predictable in my opinion. Hopefully SAW V will be better.
Fresh off the success of last year's big moneymaker, Saw III, Twisted Pictures and Lionsgate have found themselves another smash in the excellent Saw IV. A truly sick, demented movie with a great kooky cast of characters and a delectable new script from Feast writers Patrick Melton and Marcus Dunstan, Saw IV continues the horror franchise at the peak of its popularity with loads of twists and turns, and plenty of things to keep the fans happy. This fourth installment stars Lyriq Bent, Tobin Bell, Betsy Russell, Scott Patterson, Donnie Wahlberg, and several other returning cast members in the most entertaining and by far goriest installment yet. The film is directed by Darren Lynn Bousman.
Jigsaw (Tobin Bell) and his apprentice Amanda (Shawnee Smith) are dead. In the wake of Detective Kerry's murder (Dina Meyer), two FBI profilers and veteran Detective Hoffman try to piece all of the clues together to find SWAT Commander Rigg (Lyriq Bent) before it's too late. Along the way, lots of details about Jigsaw's past are discovered, and his ex-wife, Jill (Betsy Russell), becomes a potential suspect.
Tobin Bell once again delivers a breathtaking performance as the newest icon of horror with his deep, distinctive voice and great acting chops. He really makes each Saw movie just that much better, and this time is no exception. He is given lots of screen time in this installment, and it's all used to flesh out the very interesting backstory of Jigsaw, including his very first trap. Lyriq Bent is quite likable as the lead character, and brings just the right amount of likability and charisma to Rigg. I personally think he has a big career ahead of him. Donnie Wahlberg plays Detective Matthews so well, as if he is just so used to his character after being in three Saw films. He might have incredibly limited screen time, but he does a magnificent job. All of the actors and actresses contribute greatly to make this movie how great it is.
Darren Lynn Bousman directs the slickest and coolest Saw yet with so many intricate shots and camera angles. It's really easy to become completely immersed in the situations and feelings of the characters because of the spectacular directing and cinematography. The grimy locations, the dark warehouses, and the dimly-lit rooms all make for incredibly ideal surroundings and settings. The writing provided some new and much needed creativity to this series, and it managed to fit things together so perfectly that it's a wonder anyone ever doubted how good this film would be. The entire Saw franchise just works so perfectly as a whole, especially when you watch all of the films back-to-back. Everything connects so well, and the tiny plot holes that are scattered throughout will no doubt be answered in Saw V or Saw VI. The quality of these films has still not wavered at all yet, which is extremely rare to find in a series that goes over three films. The fourth movie is usually when you start hitting all sorts of bumps and mistakes everywhere, but it's certainly not the case with Saw IV.
As always, the traps and the gore in the Saw movies are, for many fans, the most important part, and this film is no exception. Didn't think it could get any gorier than Saw III? Saw IV begs to differ. Knives, scalp pulling, electrocution, and spears are only a taste of the horrors that plague some of the characters; my personal favorite was a trap that involved lots of ice. Fans of the franchise have also come to expect a certain quality about the twists in the movie, and there are certainly plenty here. There is no lack of shocks or scares, and when it comes to the twists and turns, they just keep splendidly piling on. While the ending of the original Saw still remains one of the best twist endings in all of modern film, Saw IV's shocking conclusion really stays with you and leaves you shivering in anticipation for the moment when Saw V will finally be in theaters, which feels like so very far away.
Saw IV does not disappoint in any way, shape, or form, and is terrifyingly close to being the best installment in the series. The gore, the characters, the twists, and the traps are all simply great, and this film is without a doubt the best horror film of the year, right up there next to Grindhouse and 28 Weeks Later. One can only hope that Saw V will be able to surpass the fourth one or be, at the very least, even half as good. As long as the plot continues to impress, the movies continue to connect, and the quality never wavers, you can always count me in for the next Saw.
The whole *SAW* thing is way past it's sell by date. The plot was verging on ridiculous and the traps, whilst inventive just unbelievable. Like anyone could lift up two whopping great blocks of ice 30 ft in the air.
The whole *SAW* thing has been reduced to 90 mins of even more far fetched and gruesome ways of killing people, who quite frankly you don't care one iota about. Plot seems to take a backseat now!
I really dont know why horror fans dont like to see their genre get some hype. The Saw franchise is the best thing to happen to horror in the past 5 years, well its pretty damned close to the top any way. Everything is so neatly intertwined and not dumbed down, its great.
at first i thought there will not be a 4th movie
think agan
late in 2007 i heard of saw iv i was happy so i bought saw 3 directors cut i seen a scene of saw iv but i thought what is it about i thought... now i seen the great movie here is my plot 4 it
jigsaw and amanda is missing.
rigg has 90 minutes to save eric matthews but how ? he must lisen closly to jigsaw mean while the police are tracking jigsaw down and a jigsaws ex jill is telling what she knows as more people fall down and in the end every thing fall's in place...
now that is what is in saw 4 but as i was saying i thought jigsaw was not dead or he was it was just other people in traps was i happy 4 saw not to go down hills ill just say #1 was 100 minutes #2 was 92 #3 was 121 #4 was 95 # 5 is 88 minutes ? will saw vi be well saw iv went to a new way 4 saw and i like it but it is going down hills so sorry new saw movies writters do a better job saw 4 & saw 5 was not all that i never seen v but it is down low low i hope it goes far up but saw 3 was not al that eather
worst saw yet, first three were terrific "5/5" this one "0/5" no "super clever ending to tie it all together" the ending just confused me. great "games" though. my fav. was the very first one where one dude was blind and the other couldn't talk. saw 5.... yeah im going to see it.... and it is probably gonna suck like this one. i really wanted to like this movie.... its a shame, loved 1,2, and 3. oh well it was fun while it lasted! ^o^
Once again the Saw franchise makes another winner. I never thought that they would make this many let alone all of them are actually really good. Cant wait to see the new one.
What an excellent entry in the saw series. We start off with a horrendously realistic autopsy. And thats just the tip of the iceberg for gore. As always the traps/puzzles are extremely clever. And there are some nice plot twists. We also get a nice back story of John Kramer. What made him into the jigsaw? Cant wait for part five...
Posted By: Protecious at 12:59pm, September 30, 2008
Better than part III, in my opinion, although the first is still the best, and II is second best, i feel that IV is the third best, better than part III, why? i felt like this one had a more interesting overall storyline with the backstory on jigsaw's personal life before he started the killings, that was interesting, and some of the traps in the movie seemed more clever than just overall shockingly brutal, any movie can just be shocking, brutal, but to add some intellegence to it is very difficult, although i feel the saw franchise burned out with II, this one wasnt as bad as i was expecting, but it's not as great as everyone seems to believe it to be.

I am a huge fan of the Saw series. It's original exploration into realistic terror always leaves me hungering for more. And my appetite is never quite satisfied when it comes to this brilliant masterpiece of a series.Really looking forward to the next installment.

There are a lot of people who seem to complain about the Saw series continuing. I don't know what to say to these people except that they must not truly care about horror, as finally having a mainstream horror franchise that continues to try within its formula instead of relying on a rehashed plot all the time is something that was sorely needed.
Additionally, I'm not surprised to see that so many are giving it 1 or 10 ratings, as it really speaks toward the mentalities of most of those going into these films that if they can't see something as "black" or "white", they tend to have a hard time grasping it or they over credit something BECAUSE they have a hard time grasping it and want to look smart. That is not to say that all of the 1 or 10 ratings are incorrect, as we all have different preferences, but the amount of ignorance thrown about in blind support or condemnation of these films is far more ridiculous than any Saw-hating individual could claim the series to be at this point.
IV continues the plot logically, utilizing elements from III which then end up making IV essential to the overall plot - a clever device from the producers in order to make sure it doesn't seem like the "odd-film-out" as we await Saw V. Additionally, the big twist of the film seems to have polarized the audience partly due to its simplicity AND complexity. It means so much, but it's such a simple shift of thought that some struggle against it and then have no idea what happened. Then they complain about why that makes it horrible. Or they think that it was brilliant just because it was "woven into" the story well.
Many of these views have validity, but anyone complaining about the series continuing or anyone stating stupid over-generalizations such as "the majority of Saw fans are idiots" needs to get over him or herself and realize that, whether they like it or not, Saw is one of the best things horror has going for it today. It's modern, accessible to a wider audience (which draws more fans and attention to the genre) and has yet to fall into a processed, redundant plot for each new film despite one coming out each year.
Anyone who isn't impressed by such consistency is likely ignorant of what it takes to get a film made and how hard the people behind these films work to try and produce something thrilling, interesting, psychological, shocking and in-depth each year.
Saw IV has its flaws but it also proves definitively that this series has legs. One would just hope that they stop making these films before those legs get torn out from under them - whenever that might be.

After three long months on DVD, I finally broke down and rented Saw IV. Sorta strange for me, a bonafide Saw franchise fan to wait that long, but somehow after three chapters I guess the appeal weared thin. But after seeing this one, I still can't say I'm completely tired of the franchise & in fact is sort of happy it's still churning out the sequels. While Saw IV wasn't the greatest
film in Saw history, it wasn't it's worse either. The damn thing still has a few miles left in it!
To say this film takes place after the events of Saw III would be somewhat correct and not at the same time. In fact, this movie actually takes place during Saw III. At times I was excepting
1960's Batman announcer to say "Meanwhile, 40 feet away...". Unlike the first three films that pretty much connect one after the other, early on you can tell the plotline of IV seems to jump all
over the place. Is this the beginning? Isn't that the end? Sorta confusing for the Saw crowd, but a refreshing change of pace from the others. Also refreshing here was on top of all that, this
film was a prequel of sorts too, showing us the birth of John to become Jigsaw, and that did help give the movie some merit for it's existence,
rather than another reason to show his traps. In fact the tagline "It's A Trap" should have been called "It's A Plot" because of it. Don't
worry, this film is still equal to "Se7en For Dummies" like the others, but for IV the gore traps didn't seem to be front and center as usual, allowing for more storyline to be shown. While that might make gorehounds nervous, the traps are starting to get more predictable and a change was needed. This change seemed to work, and honestly IV turned out to be much more enjoyable to me than II and III combined.
Not that the traps are completely out of the picture, cause they're here, it's just not that big of a deal now...even though one towards the
end did make me say "...Ah, the old **** crushing bit....well done.". And yes, like all the others you get that patented from The Sixth Sense ending, yet this time...don't kill me....I really didn't see it coming! And afterwards I said to myself that this was the only way to keep the
franchise going, and only choice & not a bad one to go with. Sure, the plot holes are still huge, the supporting cast is a bunch of "Who are you again?", and the flashbacks (or flash forwards, whatever..like the crap on Lost, okay?) are still quick and confusing, but that's Saw, it's still what we expect from it. Sorta reminds me of the classic 80's era of sequels, as long as there was a number in the title we were happy mainly due to we were already aware of what we were gonna get. Saw harks back to those days, and I'm glad at least it still does that.
As for the DVD, you do get a thirty minute video diary which is somewhat amusing, two commentaries, trailers, but only one deleted scene, which means come around September/early October 2008 expect the Saw IV Special Edition to double-dip your way. Overall, as usual, picture/audio are great, so no worries there.
In the end (will Saw end?), I expect Saw to never go out with a bang but a whimper, because I can see this going for at least two or three more chapters now thanks to the turning point given in IV. For any Saw fan, it's still recommended and to those snobbish Horror fans who turned their noses up to Saw due to it's popularity, this flix ain't gonna change that either. In an era where only Harry Potter can see four sequels and beyond, it's nice to know the Nightmare/Halloween/Friday of the 00's generation
can accomplish that as well.

Whwn I saw this movie in the theater.. I was disappointed..It just seemed thrown togather for me..the TIME thing was AWESOME... I Gasped very loudly for that..The whole thing with the Killer being in the same room though.. I had figured that out so it was not a suprise...
After seeing it again..in the theater.. I enjoyed it..more and I see how it fits in with the other movies.... the editing in SAW 4 was AWESOME..I did not like some of the plot ideas..
I LOVE THE FIRST SAW>> I REMEMBER BEING LIKE WTF!! and I LOVED SAW 3..I left the theaterfor that one saying OMG...Saw 2 Good..Taking us back to the bathroom..kicked as$... SAW 4...Good..But things gotta get a little better in V to keep me going...

This movie is amazing as are all of them. I do not understand how about 90% of the crowd cannot grasp the shuffled scenes at the ending. You can clearly tell that the fourth movie is taking place at the same time as the third. It is NOT simply showing everything that has already happened. We can understand this from the fact that the police officer places the envelope addressed to Amanda in the drawer and the fact that the FBI detective arrives just after jigsaw is killed only to find the last man standing from the third movie.
I'm sure the fifth movie will not disappoint! The police officer left 2 alive in the end of this one and one knows his identity. I think the fact that we find that saw 4 takes place in the exact time scheme as saw 3 is an interesting way to show their creativity with this movie.
Saw 5 will definately be on my list to see very soon!
AND some say these movies are too far out there. From an engineering stand point the contraptions are certainly not. Jigsaw would really have to hit a stroke of luck to guess everyone's reactions to the traps he sets though. That's a bit farfetched.
Posted By: FleshTrap666 at 3:06pm, September 16, 2008
Lost interest after the first three....I'm sorry but people claim they are so amazing when I really don't see what all the fuss is about.
The first one was good, but even then its not the type of movie that I could watch over and over. The ending was a shocker so much so that it about gave me a fucking headache.
The second ones ending is what ruined it for me...I still say that it was fairly unbelievable. if not unbelievable, just so far out there that I couldn't help but laugh.
Part three was OK not because of JIGSAW or the junkie bitch, but because of the man who lost his son.
I watched part four 3 times and the only thing I can remember is dudes head getting smashed by those slabs of ice...that's it..
this movie is awesome
it is cool that you get more information about jigsaws past

Disappointing worst in the series (it should have ended at part 3) no need for this to be made my least favorite, it wasn't dull it was entertaining it's just that the plot is so confusing to follow. No need for this film part 1 was great, 2 and 3 were decent but this is sh*t. Now after this it has left so many doors open we'll probably go up to a Saw 9. Until it gets remade bad movie definitely disappointing.
this was my least favorite of all the saw films they needed to just stop at 3 dont get me wrong it did have some pretty off the edge of youre seAT KILLS AND TORTURE BUT WHAT THE HELL THey hell the all are grusome unless youre a horror freak like me youll probably gonna have to let this one pass
"Against my better judgment...I decided to give the "Saw" franchise another look by partaking in this sequel. It was a stretch you see, because I think after the first one, the movies went way downhill. Of course, I didn't realize how badly they'd gone downhill until I saw this one.
This is not the most grotesque of these films, although the autopsy at the beginning of the film is enough to make you lose your lunch, popcorn, or whatever. Naturally a tape is found, reminding the police that the game is just beginning.
This in itself begs the question: why exactly are the police the targets of Jigsaw's "games?" This was a man whose past victims included a man who wanted to die, a swindler, a drug addict, an apathetic young man, an uncaring doctor and criminals in general. So why does Jigsaw have it in for the cops? Okay, the shady cop is one that made sense- but why the others? Who knows? I don't think they care anymore.
But wait...is it really Jigsaw at all? He died in the last one- the said autopsy is proof of that. Well anyone who saw Saw 2 or 3 knows where this is going- even a child could figure out that its not Jigsaw anymore, but one of his "students."
To illustrate how ridiculous this film gets, in the final scene you see the man from the third movie, still looking for his daughter and the remains of the Doctor who got her head blown off. As Jigsaw died in this room, along with his initial student, why exactly wouldn't the coroners actually take the Doctor's body? Why would this man still be running around, looking for his daughter? Are the rest of the bodies still littering the building?
Of course, if you've seen any of the other three Saw movies, you realize there is a gory aftermath, which is inevitably followed by a rehashing of ALL the events that have happened, proving that everything is interconnected.
Lets face it...the rehashing in itself is meant to say to the audience "see, you didn't notice how all of this is intertwined," however how many times can this finale play over and over again before it simply patronizing? How about giving your audience some credit? We've been down this road three times before- if you're going to change the direction of the films, then do it in a way that doesn't rely on a cheap retelling of events that would make Aesop recoil in agony!
If you're a fan, there will be plenty of gore, [twists], and torture for you to indulge in, and no doubt 'Saw V' will be out Halloween 2008." --andell (andell1@juno.com)
Absolutely awful. I was supremely disappointed in this one... and this is coming from an avid fan of the first three films. Nothing in this movie was up to par with the first three -- even the twist seemed forced.
when i brought the dvd i was getting kinda worried about how the saw movies would play out after jigsaw's death. this story was amazing. to me it was really epic and awesome! cant wait for 5 and 6.
I was skeptical when I first saw it. Even after it was over, I was worried that I didn’t like it. As I viewed it, I didn’t get that “Oh, God, that’s sick!” feeling I had with Saw II. The only part I thought was truly brutal was the scalping trap. (Sorry, I forgot its official name.) Maybe it’s because I’m desensitized to this type of violence after seeing the others in the franchise, or maybe it’s because the Saw crew are running out of ideas. But by the end of the movie the only thing on my mind was: “Dude, that was a mind trip.” And to this day (half a year later) I’m not sure I understand everything that happened.
A day after I watched it, and let it settle, I realized how amazing this movie was. It’s quite different from the others in the franchise. I cannot even complain in the slightest about the camerawork; it was the best I have ever seen from Saw. The plot, as I mentioned, is a true mind trip.
Don’t listen to people who say this is the worst in the series. It is just as good as the original was, but for different reasons. And, though I personally found Saw II to be the most brutal of all four, there is more blood in this movie than 99% of movies out there, period.
I don’t know how anyone who is a fan of the Saw series wouldn’t like this. I also don’t know why most people don’t realize the pure intelligence Saw IV has.
ok first off let me say that iam very surprised that this frenchise is still running strong withh the asspects of not changing the elemints of saw and keeping the same blood y and fantastic saw additude
Easily the best sine the first (as 2 was garbage and 3 needed more). Great job in further character development on Jigsaw's character.
UNFORTUNATELY to be soon soured by many a sequel. Oh well, this one will always be liked by me.
OMG LET IT GO ALREADY! i'm so tired of these movies already.. the first one was awsome the second okay...then they needed to let it go. now they're just ruining it.
dont get me wrong it was somewhat entertaining, but i'm just really tires of the saw movies. if they come out w/ another...i'm deff. not seeing it.
I was very so/so about ANOTHER Saw, but it was actually better then I thought. I love how they keep connecting everything into the conclusion. Who's ready for Saw5? lol
u know when i first heard of this movie i was like "wow another saw movie???".............but when i saw it i was like this is the best saw movie ever!!!!!
What a surprise! After reading on the internet about so many people that disliked the movie , I went and loved it! The twists and trapps are fresh. Hard to write a review, cause its like watching 20 tv episodes of a television series.

I think it is a good horror film that fits in well with the past saw films. The ending is a little confusing on the first view but if you watch it again you should understand. Large amount of gore but you will expect that from a saw film. Better than the third but not as good as saw 2 or the king of the franchise saw 1.

im surprised that the fourth installment of SAW is actually good, i mean just look at all the other movies, after the 2nd or 3rd it just gets god awefu. i was actually shocked when i found out that they are making a grand total of 7....7!! SAW movies...thats ridiculous!...but whats even more ridiculous is that so far all of them are pretty damn good, just like all the other saw movies, at the end my jaw was to the floor and i was like "OH MY GOD! I DID NOT EXPECT THAT!" and thats what i really love about the SAW series ....its the whole "SURPRISE!"....great movie
Plot: *SPOILER ALERT!* when i found out that the 4th one took place DURING the 3rd one, i was blown away, it was a great concept and the plot was really strong...it kept me interested the whole time, Plot = 5/5
Gore: the gore was pretty good.*SPOILER!* when Dectective Matthews got 2 ice blocks slammed against his head i was like "BOOM HEADSHOT!" just an amazing head explosion, that guy getting ripped apart on the bed? amazing Gore = 5/5
Downfall: the only down fall about this movie, and all of the other movies is that NO ONE SURVIVES! ...its like "come on dude! why cant just 1...just 1 person surive a jigsaw game!" amanda doesnt count, because she was being tested in the 3rd one and failed
all in all...this movie is top notch, cant wait for number 5
Well the 4th installment of this yearly series has arrived and the writers and producers did not disappoint. The look of the film is dark, gritty like you would expect from a Saw film. The twist are once again kept well hidden until the end. The writers have definatey thought long and hard about how to keep Jigsaw alive, even after he's dead.
After watching this film, I can see what we have in store for Saw V, but I'm curious in finding out what Saw VI, will show.
Tobin Bell in this installment once again brings out a great performance. As you watch the film and you experience what it is that drove him to become Jigsaw, you can't help but feel bad for him and at times feel he's justified in his anger.
The only thing that many may not like, is if you haven't seen the others, you will be lost. This series has lent itself to being one ongoing film. I've seen every film in the theaters and will continue to go. The last time a series was released every year was in the 80's with the Friday the 13th films(released by Paramount) and as much as I enjoy those films, they weren't handled with the same care that the Saw films are.
If you like any of the other films in the series, than I recommend picking this up.
