Not really scary but an interesting plot & great acting.
A solid ghost movie

A solid, creepy, atmospheric film. Even though I wasn't really scared at any point, this is still one of the better haunted house movies you'll see. The pacing was fine, the acting was great, and the plot was actually interesting.

First movie I've ever watched and actually had to turn off because I felt like I was going to pee my pants. Very scary flick....

This is one of the best ghost movies ever made! 5 minutes into the movie you are on the edge of your seat in horror as George C. Scott's wife and daughter are wiped out in an accident as he watches in horror. Then the movie gets started! There is a element of mystery, horror and great drama throughout the entire movie. This movie actually holds up relatively well over time. I saw this for the first time, probably 10 years ago and again I saw it last year and it was just as good and because most of the special effects are minimal, they don't look to cheesy or outdated. And the use of the wheelchair and little rubber ball, still gives me the creeps thinking about it. Awesome movie, great story, definitely worth seeing!

I have to say this is one of my favorite ghost story movies. It has a great story, George C. Scott is perfect in the role of a Composer who loses his wife and daughter in an accident attempts to start his life again without them with a new job and a new home...the catch is...the home is haunted.
There is a great mystery element to this movie as well as some spooky moments. The end leaves a bit to be desired and I feel they could have worked that a little better. But all in all it is a wonderfully ambiant movie that gives me the chills everytime I see it.
