HBO. You're probably thinkin' the Sopranos right now and there's nothing wrong with that ;) But let's back track to 1982 to a Haunted House movie called the Changeling. Now I bought this as a suggestion from a friend and he told me it was scary as hell. This coming from a guy who's 6' 225 lbs. of pure muscle. So I went out and bought it and was VERY SUPRISED at how scary it is. I don't think there's that much blood in it, but the scares and chills don't stop!
You start the movie with a family on a vacation, not to spoil it too much but the family dies in a freak accident and only the father survives. A few years later the father moves to a new city in a new house, a nice big mansion which for some reason is being sold real cheap. In the middle of the night loud noises such as banging on steel that had me cringing so bad I decided to turn down the volume on my speaker system. This movie has TONS of moments where you think somethings gonna happen, but doesn't. Lots of detective type scenes played by the films protagonist (George C. Scott) and not to mention a surprising and SCANDALOUS ending where you, of course, find out all is not what is cracked up to be.
It's about a two hour movie and the pacing will bore the hell out of fast paced, blood freaks who dig more of the Jason and Freddy scene. Not to mention the movie itself seems low budget, but it's cleverness and all around creepiness keep this movie going. Check this movie out if you were a huge fan of Amityville and want to be scared witless without too much blood spilling all over.
