Love it or hate, Boll will have you talking.
So much has been said about this film and its director and repeated failed attempts to borrow this film from my local video store only added to my anticipation. Despite initially confusing timelines, this film soon sped up to a redhot pace with bodies stacking up thick and fast.
The controversial animal cruelty footage is intense, and perhaps unnecessary, however this also sets the mood of nihilism that pervades throughout the film until the closing sequence. The police invasion of the farmhouse was somewhat akin to T-800's police-station rampage in The Terminator, if not more horrific. Following suit was the brutal jailcell brawl prior to Seed's execution, with several memorable scenes ensuing.
Sadly the film fell to pieces after this point. Apparently Seed could easily wander back into this maximum security prison and wander out just as freely to swim back to civilisation. The graphic 'hammer scene' is dripping with CGI and little explanation is given as to where, why or who the victim might be. The finale appears to be a thinly-veiled message from Boll himself: all hope is lost, and is somewhat reminiscent of a similar feeling in 'Saw'.
Overall, this film is average owing to plot deterioration and the artificial nihilism generated by Boll.
It was actually pretty hard to get through. Not because of the violence and gore, that was the only reason I made it through. It was hard to get through because it dragged along. He just doesn't know how to tell a story. If Uwe Boll is tired of the critics bashing his movies, then make a good movie. With how many he's made you think he would've gotten lucky by now. You know, better yet just quit. Don't get me wrong there's worst movies, but he seems to get the studios to give him a pretty big budget to make his movies. For that I expect better.
I agree that this happens to be the sickest movie i have seen in years. The thing with animals and the bay crying and then decomposing...in my book that just isnt right. That is true signs of a serial killer right there. It sickened me and made me think more about PETA and stuff..this was utterly disturbing.

Hopefully you read this before you watch... This movie has actual scenes of animals being killed! To let you know where I'm coming from, I own on DVD 3 of IGN's list of the sickest movies ever made; Ichi The Killer, Murder Set-Pieces (the unrated director's cut), and # 1 on the list - August Underground's Mordum. So I'm not some sissy who can't handle intense horror. But what was the point of having actual animals being hurt and killed in the film? I do realize that the great Cannibal Holocaust had some scenes like this also - however, that film was made in the 1970's when people were a lot more ignorant and the people involved in that film now have admitted how much they regret those scenes. So I'll keep this short - Cannibal Holocaust is still a classic (even though I grudgingly admit this because of the animal killings) that has a lot of merit in the world of horror films. Seed is a almost-could-have-been-something film that has those awful scenes that really just add insult to injury.

You can add this to the list of other Boll disasters---one of his better ones..but still just awful. The script was terrible, the story was predictable, and the editing was all over the place..it's like Mr. Boll got a copy of Adobe Premiere and decided to have fun with, not really professional. I wonder if Rifftrax would like to take this film on for some witty banter.

I FUCKIN HATE BOLL WITH A LIVIN PASSION BUT I THINK I WILL CHECK THIS OUT...JUST TO SEE.
Alright, so when you compare this to his other movies (barring Postal, which was actually pretty awesome) this movie is very well done. He clearly is improving in his script writing, and the cinematography is general is much better on this outing. The graphic nature of this movie was what I was looking for when I got it, and it pleases for the most part. The one thing I'm confused about is the cover. Who is she? and why does she have the knife on the back of the case? They play her off as a main character, when really she's not even in the movie. At first I thought it might have been the main characters daughter (Jodelle Ferland) but I looked closer, and that is definitely not her.
I just saw it and I think it really sucked. I still can't figure out what the dying animals are all about at the beginning of the movie, and if the guy killed 666 people, why did he get his ass kicked so easy by that cop? A punch in the head and a kick to the balls?

ZombieHunter says the descent08 has no knowledge in the horror genre based on his name?! the descent was one of the better horror films in the past several years and ZombieHunter is a huge idiot and needs to stop insulting other memembers with his rambling and uneductaed nonsense. Seed is quite terrible, not as bad as thedescent08 says, but still doesn't deserve a rating of 5/10 like zombiehunter gave it.

I thought it was everything it was suppose to be an unstopable killer who leaves lots of dead bodies so therefore i was not disappointed.
I cant believe the reactions of some reviewers (thedescent08) by your name alone I know you have no knowledge about the horror genre at all.

I had the pleasure of screening this film at the Alamo Drafthouse in Austin with Uwe Boll in the audience to introduce and answer questions about the movie. This movie would have been good even without the explanations, but it sure didn't hurt. All in all similar in spirit to the classic unkillable killer movies like Halloween and the later Friday the 13th movies, but Boll takes it in another direction. He has a point to all the gory depictions, but it gets a little lost along the way. All in all a great film if you're a fan of serious gore. Basically if sick and twisted is your bag, you won't be disappointed, but if you really want to be scared this movie just doesn't deliver.
