what a piece of donkey shit this movie was. even Amber Heard's hot ass can't save this stinker. Makes the prom night remake look like The Exorcist. Avoid at all costs!!!!!

Better than I thought it would be, wasn't very original though, felt like I was watching Disturbia again.

This movie sucked... All the characters were dumb as fuck. And they missed out on one whole scene the one with the saw buzzing across amber heards head.. Where in the fuck was it. LOL... the only the movie was good is because i saw it with a girl and she was buggin and we were ranking on the whole movie. LOL... but other then that I bet the old one is way better. Still haven't seen it. And the ending was the lamest ending ever felt like a lifetime channel movie ending.

This is my impression of the entire film:
Hey, I think this guy is a killer
-No he's not, that's ridiculous.
Hey, I heard some strange things coming from his room last night.
-He could have been working out!
Hey, I found some blood on a knife in the kitchen, next to a note saying 'I Killed SOMEONE!"
-That doesn't mean he's a killer!
Hey, my soon to be step dad just openly admitted that he was going to kill me and my family!
-That doesn't mean he's a killer!

This was a major dissapointment! Which yes I'm a big fan of the original(and sequel not so much the second sequel)but still I had big hopes for this and if you ask me the trailer and marketing was a big lie to us all! I mean come on the most exciting part in the trailer is with the saw going toward Amanda's face and him letting it go! ok well the scene never happens he dont even direct it with his foot toward her.It simply falls beside her after she falls through the floor? the scene isn't nothing like the trailer! Just very false things here AND there is a lot more in the trailer that isn't in the movie! I'm not against remakes.I think some remakes have even been better but this is a stinker! stay away! the only thing going for it is the acting!

Had seen the original some many years ago and seemed it was fair at best but easily forgotten. So when i read the remake was in production and later scheduled for theater release, i again was jumping for joy. Being said the remake was any better and actually lost points from the original ... If you have problems sleeping, i highly recommend keeping a copy of this on your night stand, you will be out like a rock.

I saw The Step Father last night, and was just a tad dissapointed. I wasn't expecting it too be a blood-bath horror movie, but a thriller. It wasn't too thrilling. I only jumped once and I wasn't "on-the-edge-of-my-seat". I was sad, because it had so much potential; the story line was good. Penn Badgley did a really good job, but I had a problem with everyone else. The girlfriend, was just nag and she had something against pants or something. The mom was irrating too, not sure why though. (Yeah, that helps. Sorry!) All in all, it could've been better and I wish I could fix some minor details. The Step Father wasn't bad, but it still wasn't great. I suggest that if you looking just to go out and do something, yes, this movie is good for that.

i was really looking forward to this film and it was what i expected a decent little pg-13 horror film until the release of saw 6 next weekend...

The story wasnt that great i didnt really get that i didnt really get into it and it was just decent

i found myself laughing a some of the kills expecially e old ladies...and that is the most gruesome kill in the movie..a fall down the stairs..lol

the last 20 minutes were awesome though and thats why i give this a 5 out of ten that and that the main caharacter penn badgley was pretty fuckin hot

I didnt want to see this in the first place because it looked boring and stupid but my friends made me go with them. Just as I thought it was really boring and not that good at all. They really need to stop with these PG-13 remakes. Very stupid.

The Stepfather was a tight little 80's horror thriller that starred scream queen Jill Schoelen and featured one hell of a lead performance by Terry O' Quinn as the title charachter. The film was a nasty , at times absurdly violent and yet somewhat believable tale of a man who considered his 1950's family values rules to kill by. The first film focused on the psychological breakdown of the main character as he infiltrates each group of victims and tries his best to play by the rules until it begins to fall apart. Which sends him into a psychotic frenzy ending in family bloodshed. The film was a fondly remembered beast of a film. But this watered down remake of that film is another beast altogether. Instead of focusing the superior plot of the original this version seems to paint it's lead character vacantly portrayed by the sadly talented Dylan Walsh as a man who kills because his families just start to learn too much. A plot twist that is less compelling and far less disturbing. Also this time around the heroine of the film is transformed into a hero which lowers the suspense stakes. In fact the film moves along generically as it goes from one bland kill to the next biding time in between by forced teen angst and silly melodrama. This film moves both too fast and seems to drag on for quite a bit as well. The film looks crappy except for some unnecessarily stylish lighting and camera shots. The sad thing is their are some real talented actors here Penn Badgeley of Gossip Girl fame does well with his part although it mostly consists of him walking around shirtless but he has some surprisingly deep moments. Amber Heard fills out the hot girl quota by always being in her panties and she does well enough with her flimsy part but we know she's damn talented as she was featured in criminally unseen shocker All the boys love Mandy Lane. All in all this is a pretty terrible film it's generic and cruddy and tries for intensity instead of classic stylish suspense and character and story growth. But it does seem to detain some type of watchability. Look we've seen this film a thousand times before unfortunately and this version just doesn't bring anything new to the table but it's entertaining enough to pass some time. But I'd wait for Lifetime Movie Network cause that's where it's sure to end up.

Honestly i have to say i don't rate very many movies but this one was just bad. I was not expecting much when i saw it was pg-13 but this was just bad. Very long and drawn out, alot of dialogue, very little action. Dylan Walsh did a decent job but there was no material for him to work with. Definitely does not live up to the original. Save your money and see ANYTHING else.
