"A movie too shocking for theaters"??? Shocking, yes, if you have never seen the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Wolf Creek, or ANY other "crazy redneck sadistic killer in the middle of nowhere" film. This film made absolutely no sense. There are a lot of, what are apparently supposed to be creepy and disturbing, scenes that come out of nowhere and then are never explained. Instead of lending a sense of terror and tension, they just make the film confusing and ridiculous. Maybe that was intentional as to divert your attention from the fact this has been done a million times, with way more scares and infinitely more disturbing imagery. Having traveled a considerable amount, I've always found rest areas a bit creepy, which led me to give this film a chance. It starts out slow, leads to generic, and ends up utterly nonsensical and confusing. I'm usually pretty easy on horror films. As long as they are fun, I'll take unoriginality. In this case, I should have just rewatched the original Chainsaw.
I FREAKIN' LOVED THIS MOVIE .
IT IS AN ONLY ONE HERO STORY . THE MOVIE MAKES YOU CONFUSED , THAT ONLY AN FEW PEOPLE CAN UNDERSTAND .
I'M DYING TO WATCH " REST STOP 3 "

i have to say i was very confused. the film didnt know whether it was comin or goin. the bits of gore were ok but overall i was dissapointed.
there's some bad reviews here, i'm not sure why. this movie wasn't as bad as some say it is. SPOILER AHEAD!! yeah, it's a goofy plot, but you can piece it together. i don't think the driver was supernatural, just a member of the strange family in the mobile home. i DO think the ghost was the girl in the broom closet, however, then our heroine took her place.

After seeing the trailer for this film I said to myself "This movie is gonna rock!". Sadly I was mistaken...
The film gives the impression that the writer and director simply rented twenty popular horror films and grafted bits together to form the plotline of Rest Stop. At times I felt that there were three or four plots running simultaneously, and at other times I just felt disappointed by so many pointless or confusing scenes. Character development was almost non-existent in this film, thus it was hard to empathise with the lead female or her ill-fated partner. Additional characters (the caravan family and the cop) were simply confusing and at times it appeared as though they had been transplanted from another film. The villain was neither menacing nor knowable, and appeared to hide his repressed homosexuality behind his stick-on moustache. The gore had simply been lifted out of Hostel and once again felt removed from the central story-line (where exactly was the bus?).
Far and away the most frustrating/annoying element was the 'ghost' business whereby the director has decided that he wishes to cross genres into the supernatural for some unknown reason. In my view this served no purpose other than to cheat and confuse the audience.
The ending of the film was no better. Alternate endings are included in the DVD extras and ALL of these are better than the one included in the film. Tune in to the video blog included in the extras if you don't feel that the storyline was confusing enough.
In a word, disappointing.

I am all for leaving a film open for interpretation, but Rest Stop is just too much..
At one moment the killer is a man in a yellow truck, the next a supernatural being... Is the girl high, experiencing a supernatural event...or is she stuck in a horror film that makes as much sense as a travelling family in a rundown RV with a mutant baby going haywire with a poloroid camera?
If i had to mention one plus in RS, it was the gore...
First saw this while I was bored watching TV. It stuck in my head and I eventually bought it. I think we all know this movie isn't something you watch if you are looking for an original and intelligent plot line. In fact I can see where they blatantly ripped off scenes from other horror movies. But it was extremely entertaining and that is all I'm looking for.
Another decent one from "Raw Feed." Aside from its obvious low budget, this is an entertaining little "Survival" flick. Decent gore, decent suspense. I wouldnt rank this among my top 20, but i'd definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a good time.

The ending was TOO open. It let you decipher the story yourself but it didn't give you enough clues to even begin. I'm thinking about a million different things by the end that I'm not even scared, just frustrated.
i loved this movie sooo much. alot of people say its sh*t, alot of people dont like it, i dunno why. this is one of my favorite movies ever and im gunna get it the day it comes out!
This movie is horrible. The acting not bad but the story is ridiculous. They tried to incorporate all these different aspects of horror into this tiny movie that it all could not fit and just seems rushed and nothing was answered or even finished just and end to the movie but nothing that was started finished. This is a waste of anyones time to watch.
