Its rare i want to fast forward a horror movie, but this moie had me doing it a few times, which for seeing so many horror movies, and movies in general is rare for me, this story these characters had absolutly no substance of interest and the scares they try are absolutly replicants of so many other re used and re used formulas of the genre, very disapointing, i hope the director of this doesnt ruin final destination 4 as well

I'm a fan of David Ellis. I think Final Destination 2 was worthy followup. I loved Cellular. And Snakes on a Plane, while flawed, was still a fun summer movie.
But I've got to say, he really missed the mark on this one. Asylum is nothing but a snoozefest piece of flaming cliche.
Now I've live in a college dorm. Sure a lot of the kids have issues but c'mon. You expect me to believe that a group has every single member with a traumatizing past. That's just bs. Plus it seems like they're the only ones in the dorm. Where's the rest of the students? It's all quite unbelievable.
Add to the fact that the dorm is connected to an old asylum which still has the furniture and files from back in the day. Please, fans of the "Prom Night" remake wouldn't even buy that.
The killings are lame, the characters are annoying and the ending is the cheesiest thing I've seen since...actually I can't think of anything cheesier right now.
Bottom line, skip it. Because you'll never get the time back in your life that you wasted watching this trash.
I thought it was very good up until the third act. It wasn't a masterpiece, and it certainly wasn't scary, but up until that point I actually sort of became involved with the characters. But that third act was more comedy than thrills, and for that my rating goes down.
I thought this movie was good but bad. I also think its a bit of a copy of Return To The House On Haunted Hill

We watched this one sandwiched between 2 good ones so its rating goes down simply because of placement. It was more of a comedy per say and the acting was crappy. You were just waiting for the RA to get it.
i have to say that i disagree with 3/4 the reviews of this movie. just got done watching it and id have to say that, that doctor was f***in freaky and scary looking. i like how they used flashback scenes from the passed. i think it had the right amount of gore, decent acting(i like that girl from disturbia), and a couple scenes that made your heart race. obviously its an opinion but turistas got the average rating of 3.5 and this movie got .5. i think its all oppinion but i have over 400 movies and i am glad to say that i have this movie in my collection and i hide turistas in my closet.
Sooo... I read the BD review, thought; "alright these guys see so many movies in a day it would be impossible not to be a little overly harsh." I got to Blockbuster and read the names of the actors of the film; "never heard of them, oh except for the b***h from Disturbia." Even got a little twist in my gut yelling at me to put it back down. But the green guy on the back seemed so enticing to me that I ignored my instincts and, regretfully, walked up to the check out counter. This is one of those movies that piss you off even more than say a first time directorial debut that went a little rye, or those Brittish comical bloodfests that have been littering the new releases lately. This movie tries to take itself seriously, has some decent effects and makeup, and it even is obvious to me that the Budget wasn't terribly low. And for all that, adding along one of the most unoriginal and unexplored plots, adding unorignal subplots about these poo childins' "traumatic" pasts, you come up with a sinker. This guy has done plenty of movies in the past; in my opinion, none of them are good. Though, I do think that this definately might make for an effective sleeper.
I have had it with these mother f@$%in ghosts in this mother f@$%in place. An ok follow up to David R Ellis's Snakes on a Plane. Nothing new, Nothing Great, And nothing else to say.
WTF is this crap? Not one of these obnoxious characters is even remotely likable (especially the RA doing his best to channel David Spade), so why should we care if they die. The death scenes reek of the stinkiest cheese you can imagine, and the 'gore' is barely above made-for-TV mediocrity. This movie is so bad it's laughable, and not in a good way. Even half a skull is being generous.
So I guess I'm the first to burst this bubbel.. Well then shall we begin??
ASYLUM was everything the title explains it to be... EX You'd have to f-ing crazy to sit through this steeming pice if celuloide waste. To think I actually wasted bandwith on this movie sickens me!!! It was just plane BAD, bad acting, bad directing, bad script, bad camra work, BAD EVERYTHING!! Why movies like this get made I'll never understand. The blonde chick from DISTURBIA was so bad I wanted to gouge out my eyes so I wouldn't have to see her TRY and act her way through this SO-CALLED HORROR MOVIE! I mean the hole concept of the movie is ridiculous, I mean where did they find those students any way... a real ASYLUM??? Please please please don't waist your time on this movie go rent THE LAST WINTER or BASKET CASE or even something from FULL MOON ENTERTAINMENT just don't rent ASYLUM!
I give ASYLUM 1 nurse Rachett out of 100 nurse Rachetts!
