2, since it's about hippies, it takes you on a trip to 70s when hippies populated
3, i hate hippies, and so does everyone else, so you're always rooting for Ronald Reagan to kill the hippies
4, David Arquette directs this movie

fun movie but it has its flaws.
You really cant take the acting seriously cause its a throwback to 70s slasher movies. Funny at times but some of the jokes fall a tad bit flat. all in all, the tripper was a fun, bloody, throwback that had a ronald reagon mask wearing man hacking up hippies.
David Arquette has just slapped horror fans in the face by making this movie. There is nothing creative or intriguing about this awful title. Arquette thinks that you can make a bloody movie with political (Republican) satire and appease the moronic masses. Well, Arquette was right if we are to judge by the ratings some people gave it.
He has just proven that anyone can make a horror movie and have it be successful with drugs and blood. There is nothing smart about this movie.
I'm pretty sure that this was supposed to have comedic elements, but I found nothing funny. If you want political humor, watch Dennis Miller, because at least he has content and meaning. Arquette just made a movie that says "this party is bad, yeahhhhh!" The sad thing is that people followed this!
Is the horror community so juvenile and uneducated that all it takes is some underwhelming kills, drug-induced aestheticism, and verification of confirmation bias to like a movie?
I am no longer disappointed in movie makers making bad horror movies, because the fans are to blame. Fans are bottom feeding know-nothings in need of an educational beating, and this is why we can't get a good horror movie.
I want nothing more than to give a 0 out of 10, but it seems that I do not even have the option of giving it a 1 out of 10. Due to scoring accessibility, this gets a huge increase in score.
One of the best comedy/horror films ever made! You have to have a IQ and a Funny Bone too enjoy and get this B-movie masterpiece for a first time director and cool as hell goofball ! loveed it Reagan and hippies awsome!
I don't know how anyone could hate this movie. Seriously, if you go into this film knowing it's about a guy who thinks he's Ronald Reagan shredding hippies to bits, how can you complain? You get exactly that and more.
For a slasher flick it's incredibly stylized; manages to be full of wit and both social and political commentary from opposing sides. I mean it rips into hippies like crazy, metaphorically and literally, but also dishes out the goods on the republican party as well.
Not to mention the film also sports a wacky, money grubbing Paul Reubens in his best role since Pee Wee's Big Adventure. How no one else seems to even recognize him blows my mind. How old are the people who frequent this site?!
Anyone looking for an over the top comedic slasher flick should definitely look into this. Be disappointed, I dare you to try.
This cool little slasher is co-written and directed by David Arquette and stars many a faces, here's a few names:Coutney Cox,A few of the Arquettes,Jamie King,Balthazar Getty,Lucas Haas, jason Mewes and of all people Thomas Jane.
The story is about a kid who sees his dad being slapped around by a tree-hugging protestor and then takes the matter into his own hands by running a chainsaw through the protestors neck.
Now moving ahead to present day we meet Samantha who has been abused/traumatised by her ex-boyfriend and is on a camping like trip with her little group of pot head/hippieThe Tripper friends. They arrive at this "Freedom-Fest",Tree-Hugging",Free-Love" concert/fair type thing right in the middle of the woods.Things start happening(of course) and the town Deputy with Mayor involved(kind of) try to sort some kind of order in the chaos that has begun in the woods.there is a crazy killer on the loose who is wearing a Ronald Reagan mask and carrying a hatchet and even leaves jelly beans as hos calling card. So,who is this masked guy running around?Samantha's ex,the kid from the beginning all grown up or one of our beloved characters gone bad?I'm not elling! You have to watch it or if you have then you know!I like this movie, great job by Mr.Arquette! We''ll see the Arqettes again soon in Scream 4,5 and 6....Oops did i say that! Ssshhhhh...
Sorry, BD, this time I have to disagree. I thought this film was atrocious. So so goddamn boring. The kills weren't even inventive (I don't even remember any of them). Arquette is heading towards Boll Island. Big fail.
i was getting into it but it never realy went anywhere? not to terrably bad for a first timer,it was ok.

Great "B" movie! Tons of fun, and littered with B-list celebrities. The kills are fun, and the political references are epic.
I was not expecting much. I don't think anyone was. What a pleasant surprise it turned out to be! A great ode to classic slasher films, and a solid endorsement for Obama!(lol) David Arquette is one goofy dude, but this movie turned out quite alright. Look close, and you'll find Pee-Wee Herman.

This was actually pretty good! I didnt really expect much and have been putting off watching this one. What a great surprise that Jason Mewes is in it! that guy is fucking hilarious. Great movie, watch it
Ronald Reagan slashing hippies. AWESOME!!! I loved it! The gore is awesome and so are the kills. I may be going out on a limb, but I think the massacre scene where Ronnie kills 10 hippies, or so, is just as great as the raft masscre in The Burning. In that scene, I loved the POV angle on the axe to make it look like it was a scene from a video game. The Tripper is definitely one of the best(in the top 10) modern slasher films. I hope I can find a Ronald Reagan mask this Halloween.

I liked it. It was funny, charming, and had an original plot. On top of that, Ronald Reagan actually makes a pretty kick-ass killer!
I seem to enjoyed it it was def diffrent from horror films, comedy/horror which is nice every once in a while and having a few cocktails during the movie will brighten things up if your not enjoying it
Come on people are you serious i'v seen some fucking shit films in my 35 years and i'v seen some mind blowing films but until i watched Tripper i had'nt seen a film that made me want to literaly blow my brains out . What apile of stinking , predictable , dreary , malodic fucking shit.
Shit script , shit acting and WHY was so many actors duped into being in this film , how stoned would you have to be to not see this film as shit , maybe they all went toad licking . DONT watch this film , its a vauge attempt at a horror film and lets itself down in every way , save your time and money and watch storm warning it came out around the same time and fucks tripper to death .Oh i will say one good thing about tripper , the chainsaw in the neck aint a bad shot but not that good it would make you watch the rest of the film .
This is one of the most original horror movies i've seen in a long time. Full of well-known likable actors that seemed to be having fun and really got into their roles. I hate to say it, but David Arquette (director/co-writer) is one weird and talented dude.
