New comics this week and it's very very slim. But if I could suggest one comic it would be Wildstorm's Victorian Undead #1. The internet has been abuzz about it, I just picked up my copy and ready to read it up. Full list after the break, what are you getting? ...Read More
Check out the cover to this week's Punisher. It looks like they are taking a little detour in the usual storyline to be filled with monsters and mayhem. Looks pretty fun to me. Synopsis after the break... ...Read More
Another Wednesday brings new comic releases for us, a mostly thin list of comics coming out this week. Here are a couple that you might want to check out for: Strange Adventures of HP Lovecraft #4 and Locke and Key Crown of Shadows #1. Strange Adventures is in it's last issue and has been great up to this point and Crown of Shadows goes back to the well in this new story arc of Locke and Key. What are you going to get this week? Full list after the break. ...Read More
Aliens #4 will be coming out in the beginning of December, but there is a 4 page preview up right now at Dark Horse's Website. There isn't really anything spoilerific...but man is that cover beautiful. ...Read More
The Vincent Price Presents comic series has been doing some great Vincent Price Homages as of late. Previously in the blog I talked about their work on a sequel to Dr. Phibes...but this week is issue #2 on their special on a sequel to The Tingler. A synopsis is after the break...are you interested in these comic sequels? ...Read More
IDW Publishing is coming out with a prequel for the upcoming Legion movie. The 4 issue mini-series is called Legion: Prophets, will be a primer for the movie giving the story of four of the main characters and how they all meet up. Issue one is coming out November 25th, and it definately has my interest with a fight between man and angel...I'm cool like that. More info after the break. ...Read More
Dynamite Entertainment is bringing issue three of the Ash Saves Obama this week. When I announced the series, it seemed readers were mostly negative about the series but I was wondering has anyone tried reading it and if so what do you think of it? I myself will probably wait until trade if I do read it.
Vampirella's return keeps going this week with Vampirella: Second Coming #3. If you have not gotten the first two issues yet, you might want to check it out if you're a fan of the series. If you are new to the series you might want to just get issue one and see if it does anything for you. What I really like about the series so far are the 4 covers in each issue from different artists and no interior ads in the issues, definitely helps with the pacing. Have you read Second Coming at all? More info after the break: ...Read More
I just want to wish all the readers a safe and happy Halloween, but I thought I would suggest the best holiday reading to get you in the mood tonight. Wildstorm's comic adaptation of Trick 'R Treat. You can check my review of Trick 'R Treat, which pretty much says that it infuses the best part of Halloween with fun chills and scares. The story revolves around the acts of going door to door for candy and the people it surrounds. Also more knowledgeable readers will know this is also a movie and I believe it to be a facsimile of the movie, which I never want to see because of my deep love for this comic. What are you reading/doing this Halloween?
If you're not familiar with Vincent Price Presents, consider it a throwback to the one shot horror comics like Tales from the Crypt or Creepy. This December on it's 13th issue, fans will be in for a treat. The issue tells another story about Dr. Phibes, a classic Price character. The series has been pretty fun and I think it's cool they are doing throwbacks to Price's filmography. What do you think...cool or damnation? ...Read More
Joe Hill and Gabriel Rodriguez are at it again, their next installment in the Locke and Key series starts this November. This story arc, Crown of Shadows, the living find uses and information from the dead... I have liked the series alot up to this point with it's difference in story and somewhat odd art style. What do you think of Locke and Key? More info after the break... ...Read More
As we all scramble this week to get our last minute costumes and get invited to parties...make sure to stop by your local comic shop to pick up some new horror comics! Some big titles to look out for this week would be Predator #3 and Hack/Slash #27. Full list after the break, what are you getting this week? ...Read More
As we near the 1 year anniversary of Repo: The Genetic Opera's limited release, it's insane to see how far the film has come. After being dumped by its distributor onto a handful of screens (without any advertisements), the film now plays weekly across the country, playing to sold out crowds and often with "Shadowcasters" re-enacting the film in full costume in the aisles of the theater. And it all began with Terrance Zdunich (working with Darren Smith), who also played Graverobber in the film. But Repo isn't his only baby; he's got a new comic series called The Molting, and we had him take some time out of his busy schedule to talk about it. Read after the break for more! ...Read More
Are you kidding me? From the mind of international Pop-Star, multi-Grammy winner, and the top selling artist of 2009 Eminem, comes the new horror franchise Shady Talez, a fictional horror comic-book that literally sucks it's reader into it's very pages. Each horror story is a wink at an original classic such as Christine, Aliens, and The Lost Boys while Eminem puts his own dark spin on the genre playing multiple characters and introducing new stories to the new horror generation. Kevin Grevioux (Underworld franchise) is penning the screenplay.
I can't think of a better way to celebrate the last couple days before Halloween with getting Predator #3 at your local comic shop. The reboot of the Predator comics series has been pretty good and is slightly reminiscent of the movies. What are you more interested in, the Aliens comics or Predator? ...Read More
Love it or hate it, Hack/Slash is here to stay....but I think we can all agree that the covers and artwork for the Hack/Slash series is pretty rad. Coming this January from Devil's Due is the second volume of the Art of Hack/Slash which will collect cover art, plus other exclusives. Is bloody cheesecake enough of a reason for a purchase? ...Read More
New week means new comic releases and here's some highlights: Dark Horses' Beast Of Burden #2 and IDW's Last Resort #3. Both of these series are kinda different in the horror genre but I find suprisingly refreshing. Beasts of Burden follows a group of dogs and the haunted undead hijinx they get in. Last Resort can best be described as a 70's action/horror movie complete with boobs and blood...not too mention great covers by Darywn Cooke. Full list after the break... ...Read More
Over at Wildstorm comic's Blog, they just released the cover for issue three of Victorian Undead. Now issue one isn't out yet but I'm pretty pumped for 3 just for the cover! It seems the zombies are invading 221 Baker Street...which if my knowledge serves me is where Sherlock Holmes lives. Holmes vs. Zombies you say?!? Keep checking the blog for more info on Victorian Undead...
Over at Entertainment Weekly's sitet, they got a sneak peek at Stephen King's latest work, Talisman from Del Rey Comics. It's seems to be the first of four mini-series in the Talisman series; this one is called 'The Road of Trials.' Check out EW, and tell me what you think.
Right now at zuda comics' website, you can read a free comic that is a nice little teaser of something sexy and bloody. ShockPopTerror is a throwback horror story set in the early 70s and a homage to genre horror and exploitation movies of the period...pretty fun, so give it a check and if you like it, vote for it!
