Nick Simmons Takes The Low Road, Takes No Responsibility For Plagiarism Allegations In First Statements
Last week news broke that writer Nick Simmons had production of his ongoing series from Radical Publishing titled “INCARNATE” amid accusations of plagiarism surrounding the title. Well today on Comics Worth Reading the first statements from Simmons were released, and surprise surprise, he doesn’t think he’s doing anything wrong. Read on for the statement and then make your own on this one.

“Like most artists I am inspired by work I admire. There are certain similarities between some of my work and the work of others. This was simply meant as an homage to artists I respect, and I definitely want to apologize to any Manga fans or fellow Manga artists who feel I went too far. My inspirations reflect the fact that certain fundamental imagery is common to all Manga. This is the nature of the medium.
“I am a big fan of Bleach, as well as other Manga titles. And I am certainly sorry if anyone was offended or upset by what they perceive to be the similarity between my work and the work of artists that I admire and who inspire me.”
This entire thing makes me sick. I hope that they try and take the brat for all he’s worth. It’s obvious at this point that he is going to take the ‘I’m the son of a major rockstar, so screw you’ approach to this, and if he can’t even admit doing something wrong then he deserves what he gets. Collin Kelly & Jackson Lanzing (Batman – One Bad Day: Clayface, Star Trek: The Last Starship) co-write the upcoming IDW Dark horror comic, featuring art by Heather Vaughan.
Jackson Lanzing said in a statement to Bloody Disgusting, “You’ll Never Leave This Place Alive is in many ways a spiritual successor to our last creator-owned horror, The Principles of Necromancy – a dive into the promise and consequence of playing god with the blood of innocents. But the Hivemind book this reminds me of most is Clayface: One Bad Day.
