depends because suspense will work at first but it doesn’t take to long become desensitized to it but bones crackin and skin shreddin always gets your heart pumpin and head racing

i think that the films in the last few years have proved that music is not as important as you think it is evil thing……to tell truth i could go with any type of musci just as long as it fits with the movie…..this is not the most important aspect in my opinion!!!

well, RZ used the old rock music very well, but it fit his “style” . in the end it all depends on the movie……

Personally I’d rather see simple music, by an orchestra and sound effects & the like, No music with the exception of background & closing credits.

how? rock music is classic in horror films. Just look at RZ films, Strangeland, Blair Witch 2(the only thing good about that movie was the music!), Idle Hands, Bride of Chucky, The Rage (best part was the music), and many other films, rock music is usually a winner. or at least a “rockish” type instrumental.

but look at all the movies out there that dont use it and are instant classics…..RZ’s “Halloween” is the only one of those movies you listed that i would consider great……classical music has produced such success in the genre, like the 80′s, and there are soooo many great movies to the classical music name…..

yes, but what if you dont like the music???? like lets just say country was playing and i was watching the movie……that would bother me to no end and i would judge the movie accordingly no matter how good it was to begin with…..

u liked cabin fever right?? they had lots of country music in that movie….lol. really instrumental music is probly the best solution (weather it be rock, classical, or just noises), the music shoulnt over come the movie. that shouldnt be the highlight of the film.

I think you’re both right. The mood is sometimes helped by the music. Also, it really never should be better than the plot itself. Otherwise, the musicians should make their own album and not a soundtrack. Sometimes the music really sucks in some horror films however.

hey hey, i liked the “gorie-ness” of the movie, the actors sucked and it was slow…i will admitt that. but the scenes were nice and bloody….which is why i liked the movie! so there…. and Mushroomhead just made me like it more!

see it had good gore but bad acting…… that makes it a decent, “watchable” movie!

last time i tried watching it my eyes almost popped out…..so i wouldnt say watchable per say, but eye popping decent!!!!

I’m not really a huge fan of rock in horror movies… unless it’s used correctly. I prefer eerie scores with simple themes. My favorite scores are Goblin’s Suspiria (not really a slasher movie but still) and the score from the original Texas Chainsaw Massacre. see eerie music isnt that good though……it used to work, but if you try to get away with that now a days it will not work because the audience is growing younger and they want thier music in the movie……thus there in rock is going to be the new hot thing!!!

I think, so long as you don’t you use hit singles that are on the billboard charts in the movie, any kind of music can work. I don’t think anyone would complain if someone used Rolling Stones, Pink Floyd, etc etc if it fit the scene.
