Beyond the break you'll find a brand new behind-the-scenes featurette for Darren Lynn Bousman's Mother's Day, which features a brief tease of Rebecca De Mornay as "Mother". Written by Scott Milam, three brothers on the run from the law head for home, only to discover that their mother lost the house in a foreclosure. Mother ingeniously orchestrates her sons' escape, teaching the house's new owners and their guests a few lessons along the way. No word on if the film will meet it's planned Mother's Day release. ...Read More

Earlier this morning we told you that Adam Green would be returning to write and direct Hatchet 2 for Anchor Bay Entertainment. We just hopped on the phone with Green, who is not only busy prepping the gory sequel, but also working on the release of his thriller Frozen (confirmed to hit theaters on February 5, 2010). Beyond the break you'll find who is returning, along with more details on Victory Crowley's upcoming massacre. ...Read More
This holiday season horror is slim, which is why we're going to have to settle for Full Circle Releasing's horror comedy Transylmania on December 5, which I'm sure none of you will see (including me). David Hillenbrand and Scott Hillenbrand's flick takes place place deep in the heart of the "cursed land" of Transylvania in a centuries-old castle, Razvan University isn't your typical institution of higher learning -- and the black leather-clad professors, three-foot-tall dean, instruction in crucifix-wielding, and topless vampiresses lurking in dark corners are just the start. Check out the third clip beyond the break. ...Read More
Aliens are scary again as "Fringe" star Joshua Jackson (Shutter) will topline UFO, the feature film version of the British TV series that will be directed by visual effects wiz Matthew Gratzner. Jackson will star as Paul Foster, a test pilot who joins S.H.A.D.O. (Supreme Headquarters Alien Defense Organization), a covert org built under a Hollywood studio that defends Earth against a race of aliens who have been abducting humans and using the body parts. The series was a cult hit in the '70s. Graztner, the visual effects supervisor on films ranging from the Martin Scorsese-directed "Shutter Island" to "Iron Man," was set last summer to make his feature directing debut on a film that its producers said is aiming for a spring start in the U.K. ...Read More
In a new interview with the Chicago Tribune, shock rocker-turned-director Rob Zombie revealed that he doesn't want his next film to be horror. "If you go down that road too far, it's hard to break out of it," said Zombie backstage at the Aragon Ballroom before his Sunday show. "I don't want to get stuck with anything. I want the freedom to do what I want to do." One of his passion projects has been the long-gestured Tyrannosaurus Rex, a screenplay written by Zombie that the Weinstein Company used as collateral to get him to direct Halloween II. Hopefully a studio will get behind the action-thriller so Zombie can bring it to life. Word is that the script is quite entertaining. ...Read More
Bloody Disgusting learned that Adam Green will in fact be returning to write and direct Hatchet 2 for Anchor Bay Entertainment. In addition, we've got our hands on the official shooting synopsis: "HATCHET 2 follows Marybeth as she escapes from the clutches of Victor Crowley, learns the truth about his curse, and heads back into the haunted New Orleans swamp to seek revenge for her family and kill Victor Crowley once and for all..." Shooting is slated to begin in Los Angeles this January. Kane Hodder and Tony Todd are rumored to return, although nothing has been confirmed. ...Read More
Bloody Disgusting learned that Anchor Bay is looking to release Adam (Hatchet) Green's deep-freeze thriller Frozen in theaters on February 5, 2010. We'll keep you posted when this is officially announced. Dan, Joe and Parker are three college students on the last day of a skiing vacation in New England. But when they take the last lift up the mountain, and are accidentally stranded halfway up, they must fight for survival against primordial enemies: cold, wind, rain, snow, and altitude. Kevin Zegers, Emma Bell and Shawn Ashmore all star.
I love The Crow, and it will always have a special place in my heart, but I just can't hide the fact that I'm excited as all hell for a franchise reboot. It took 15 years, but Alex Proyas' adaptation of James O'Barr's comic is straight up dated. This afternoon io9 caught up with Ryan Kavanaugh, the man producing the remake being penned by Stephen Norrington. ...Read More
Be patient comic fans as the animated feature film version of The Goon is still in the works, it's just a long, hard road says creator Eric Powell. "I just finished writing the script a few months back, and Blur is working on a lot of test stuff," Powell tells Comic Book Resources. "Fincher is working on a film right now, so we're waiting for him to get some space so we can start showing some of this stuff off. I'm pretty happy with everything so far. We've just got to work to get to the next point. This is a slow, long process." Clancy Brown and Paul Giamatti have both been confirmed to lend their voices, check out two CG tests here. ...Read More
A while back we started a Bloody Disgusting Facebook group, a couple thousand of you joined, then we realized groups are clunky and unorganized so we made a new BD page instead. If you're on Facebook go check out the page and become a fan, we'll share cool stuff with you and you can share it with your friends... spread the horror love! So come and post on our wall, comment on our pictures, waste time at work with BD. ...Read More
With Ninja Assassin arriving in theaters soon, director James McTeigue (V for Vendetta) has been out doing the press rounds talking about his ultra bloody revenge flick. During a recent interview with Sci Fi Wire, he chatted a little about his forthcoming Edgar Allan Poe film, The Raven, which lead to a shocking discovery --- it could head into torture porn territory. ...Read More
Is The Wolfman actually Frankenstein in disguise? Well, it's obviously not about a mad scientist's assembled monster - yet, if the movie is the creature and the studio is Dr. Frank, then you tell me what that equals? According to a new article over at Variety, Mirisch Agency has booked editors Mark Goldblatt and Walter Murch to recut Joe Johnston's The Wolfman reboot for Universal Pictures. For years now Bloody Disgusting has been hearing about the woes surrounding the hairy remake that is finally arriving in theaters February 12 (a Valentine's Day massacre anyone?). With the pic being re-edited just months before release, and news of recent reshoots and rescoring (Danny Elfman's score is to be replaced by composer Paul Halsinger's take), it's hard not to think we have a Franken-movie on our hands. Instead of moaning, he'll be howling in disappointment.
This afternoon CBS Films released the first trailer for Daniel Barnz's "Beauty and the Beast" tale, Beastly, which stars Vanessa Hudgens, Alex Pettyfer, Mary-Kate Olsen, Neil Patrick Harris and Peter Krause. In theaters July 30, when a spell is cast on a handsome egocentric young man (Pettyfer) that physically transforms him into everything he despises, he has one year to find a young woman (Hudgens) who will love him despite his hideous form or the spell will last forever. ...Read More
We ran across an interesting film heading into production in Glasgow, Scotland that will be directed by Stacy Hopkins. While I'm pretty damn sure it's NOT an actual remake, shooting will begin soon on The Blair Witch Remake, a film about three experienced filmmakers who set out to shoot a documentary about a local legend. While it sounds like an actual remake to Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez's groundbreaking 1999 film, I'm not exactly sure how it could be. I'm guessing it's more of a faux remake and a play on the original film. More details as they come in.
First announced here on BD November 6th was the newly revived Howling franchise, which will kick off with The Howling Reborn. Today it was officially confirmed that Joe Nimziki will direct the pic from his own screenplay for indie producers Joel Kastelberg and Moonstone Entertainment's Etchie Strohl. The latest installment starts shooting in February for a Halloween release. Unfortunately, plot details are still under wraps. The original "Howling," directed by Joe Dante from a script by John Sayles, was released in 1981 and spawned six sequels. Dee Wallace-Stone starred as a news anchor stalked by a serial killer who turns out to be a werewolf. ...Read More
Some really interesting news came out of the New York City Horror Film Festival where Bloody Disgusting's John Marrone was on on hand to witness William Lustig receiving the Lifetime Achievement Award. During his acceptance speech he revealed that a deal is closed on a remake of Maniac and also updated the status on the reboot of Maniac Cop (both films he directed). Read on for the skinny. ...Read More
Don't let Mom and Dad tell you that you're too old for toys now -- besides, it's not like you're actually playing with them, right? Right. With that in mind, Bloody-Disgusting has put together a list of the best horror-themed toys and merchandise to add to your holiday wish list (or buy as a gift for that special goth girl/guy in your life). For those horror fans who are past the point of collecting action figures, we've included links to more "sophisticated" stuff like macabre fashion items and two-headed baby skeletons. Happy Kwanzaa! ...Read More
While many of us might feel nostalgic for the early days of Pong and Pac-Man, you have to admit that in the 21st century gaming has become a much richer, more dynamic experience than ever before. Screw productivity -- video games are here to stay, and to tell the truth all those long-term aspirations you used to harbor were kind of stupid anyway. Which brings us to Bloody-Disgusting's list of some of the best horror-themed video games the techno-gods have on offer for the holidays this year. This season's list also includes a new section highlighting some of the best ghoulish iPhone apps now (or soon) available for purchase. Further proof that human contact is totally overrated -- after all, your XBox360 will never leave you. ...Read More
